Biography
LAIR FOR THE LOST AND SEARCHING
ALCHIMIA
Guide |
Intelligent | Tenacious | Stubborn
Alchimia was always regarded as somewhat of a quirky individual by his siblings and the other dragons of his lair. He always seemed to have too much energy, too much excitement; he barely slept and was more eager than any other in his lair to learn the skills of his Flight. More than that, he began to combine and reduce elements that his teachers and peers would never have thought of - magic and science together, resulting in strange objects infused with other bits and pieces. As fond as his kind were of adaptation, they found Alchimia's particular method of seemingly random combinations very strange. Alchimia remained completely oblivious to their vague disapproval, though - eternally cheerful, he was much too buoyant a character to ever really consider criticizing others or that they might criticize him. He didn't even notice the slight relief in some members of his clan when he announced his decision to leave for the Starfall Isles to live amongst the curious, following in the footsteps of another Lightning Flight dragon from a nearby lair. Alchimia had a rough journey to the Starfall Isles, not being particularly good at taking care of himself. Naive and somewhat forgetful, he got turned around several times and had a great many of his possessions stolen along the way (though whether they were really stolen or if he just forgot where he put them he could never be quite sure). At any rate, he was found some distance from the edge of the Starwood Strand by Ravenstag and gently guided back to the lair. He was beside himself to meet Leo, the Lightning dragon he had heard about, and was lost for words for the first time in his short life. To this day he remains in complete awe of Leo and struggles to find his words when the Tundra is around. Alchimia has a proficiency for alchemy unrivaled by any other in the clan. Of course, the more scientific dragons like Leo and Jemma call what he does "science we don't understand yet", while the more magical dragons like Bonita and Incendium think of his pursuits as uneducated adventures in magic. Both scientists and magicians alike agree that he takes altogether too much artistic licence with what should be more of an academic and logically directed pursuit, though they all admire his dedication, and cannot argue with the interesting nature of his results. Alchimia's contributions to the lair are, however, limited, since his results are so unpredictable. Nonetheless he's good company, and has become a great friend to the equally (if not more so) energetic Aureusnoctem, giving Atramento back some much needed time for herself. He constantly infuriates Sky by leaving bits and pieces all over the lair, though she finds it hard to stay angry at him for long - he genuinely doesn't mean to be annoying, he just really is that forgetful. What's more, while his brews bubble away he makes a point of helping her with little cleaning tasks to make up for how much he frustrates her. He gets on brilliantly with Sericoaura, and Apisissuri has taken a shine to him as well. Leo likes him well enough, but is a little embarassed by the Imperial's awe. Caminus finds his energy level very frustrating, so the two tend to avoid each other as much as possible unless one needs the help of the other for a project.
