Name: Mercy
Meaning: Compassion, Forgiveness
Mate: Pia (passed)

Personality> Patient, Compassionate

Status: Elder
Despite his dark complexion, Mercy is the most compassionate dragon you could ever come across. In the beginning, the younglings were too afraid to make eye contact, much less talk with the patient coatl. But that didn't deter his bright and kind attitude towards the younglings and continued on with his slow paced life. Tending to flowers, going on long walks along the banks of the Sunbeam Ruins, and just being an oldie in general. Eventually the younglings soon realized that the once thought to be ominous dragon was actually the kindest and most forgiving coatl there was. Soon enough Mercy had a family of his own. A beautiful mate, Pia, and three baby girl coatls. But luck was not on his side. Two of his young passed and out of grief, Pia soon followed.
Now, Mercy spends his days desolate from the others. Always thinking about how he could fix the past. Fed up with Mercy's stupor, good friend Helios and clan leader Akello brought the idea of going on a journey. Saying it would help him to move forward from the clutches of his past.
All they wanted was for Mercy to be his bright and kind self again. They couldn't bare to see their friend so distressed. Finally after much thought, Mercy accepted the thought and set foot with hopeful wishes for a new and bright future.

Mercy had heard of this place, the Starwood Strand. He'd heard of how it was a place of inspiration, thought, and of great beauty. Standing here, under the blooming trees, he could see that had been no exaggeration. Settling down under one of the trees, he thought.
He thought about life, about Pia, and about his future. He tried not to dwell on the past, but couldn't keep himself from it. So many "what ifs" ran through his mind. The same ones he'd gone over countless times. Maybe this or maybe that, in the end, they were still gone; taking a chunk of his heart with them that he could never regain. And maybe that was best, they deserved to have a heart ache for them—especially Pia. Sweet Pia, so loving and kind. He missed her more than words could say—even in his native coatl tongue.
"Hello?" A soft voice asked. Mercy looked up, startled. He'd been so deep in thought he'd completely missed the tundra approaching.
"Hello," he replied, "is there something I can do for you?" She smiled and blushed at the same time, clearly the shy type. He wondered what she considered important enough for her to talk to him despite her evident shyness.
"Well," she said haltingly. "You see, the Starwood Strand isn't the best place to stay all night at. Those who do don't always return."
"Really?" He replied, not believing her completely. "It seems safe enough to me; you could see just about anything approaching what with all the light coming of these blooms. And I've only been here for a hour at most."
She shook her head. "Despite the light, dragons still disappear without a trace. And you've been here for far longer than that. I came through here four hours ago on the way to the meadow where my parents met; you were right here when I passed by." She paused for a momat before adding "It's not odd to lose track of time when you're here though, especially those who've never seen the Starwood Strand before."
He appreciated that she was trying to give him an excuse, a reason why he'd lost track of time. "I'll take your word for it then. As you've been here for four hours, how late must it be?"
"Oh, a little past midnight by now," she said, shifting her wait and glancing around, as if saying that had made her realize just how little she wanted to be here so late at night. "It's pretty safe up till this time but I wouldn't suggest staying any later."
"Hmm," he replied, realizing he hadn't looked around for an inn or something ahead of time. "That may be a bit of a problem. I'm a traveler, and it seem I've forgotten to look for an inn before going on my little adventure. Do you know of any?"
She thought for a moment before saying "I do. But, maybe, you'd like to stay at my clan's lair instead? It is far closer than any inn."
Mercy took a moment to untangle her words about "far closer." He smiled at her. "Sure, I'd love to stay a night, if you don't mind."
"Not at all," she replied with a mischievous smile, "as long as you don't mind the hatchlings, that is. We have a rowdy bunch right now who'll play a trick or too on you before you even get to bed, I bet.
His smile dropped from his face as he thought of his own hatchlings. One had survived, and he had cherished his moments with her, but he still felt those moments he hadn't had with the other two. "I don't mind. It'll be nice seeing some little ones running around again."
The tundra seemed confused by his mood change, but didn't say anything. "Well, follow me then," she said as she flew into the sky.
"Forgive me, I don't believe I've asked your name. Mine is Mercy," he said somewhat loudly as he followed, trying to speak above the wind.
"Mercy? Well nice to me you. My name is Bluebird."

Soon Mercy found himself in her lair, where the hatchlings indeed played tricks on him before bed despite going straight to it. The day after, he met Bluebird's parents. They turned out to be the leaders of the clan, which he soon found out was called the Starbound clan. They invited him to stay as long as he wanted, and he did.
Starbound rested on one of the floating islands of the Focal Point. It seemed to have a mini version of each section of the Starfell Isles on it—including a observatory for a fae who loved mapping the stars. It also had an ancient, crumbling castle on it. He was warned it was unstable, and could collapse at any moment. No one was allowed near it. Their home was a plentiful one, the only real problems being the droughts and lack of fish.
Starbound was a friendly place, and Mercy stayed for several weeks. Bluebird enjoyed showing him around, and introduced him to her own coatl mate, Amaterasu. He didn't care about Mercy's dark coloring, only one of the coatls did. Chloe was that one who did. Which was ironic, considering her even duller plumage. She didn't like coatls in general though—or dragons too pretty or too dull. Mercy didn't understand Chloe. Bluebird said Chloe had had a hard hatchlinghood, but said it was Chloe's story to tell when he asked more about it.
Starbound was friendly, but also chaotic. Injuries were commen in this disorganized place. One day, Mercy felt odd. A feeling of unexplainable foreboding came over him and told him to get to the practice grounds right now.
He hurried along, trying to get there fast. It was hard to get to any other way besides the passageway they had. It was also one of the few places that had a locking door to keep the hatchlings out. The practice grounds were where the guards kept their weapons. Also where the skydancer, Tiger Rose, did her sky dancing practice.
He passed by Bluebird as he ran. She was looking for something. She turned to ask him, but the look on his face must of stopped her. For she followed him instead.
They found the door unlocked, hidden keys laying on the ground. Rushing in, they saw three little hatchlings playing with weapons. Mercy was ahead of Bluebird, and showed no signs of stopping as he rushed through the doorway. One of the hatchlings playfully swung a sword to large for him as Bluebird yelled for them to stop. But it was to late. Caught off guard by the weight, the sword pulled itself and the hatchling several inches to close to the other's neck. Right at that moment, Mercy lunged. The sword bit into his forearm instead of the hatchling's neck. Deep and painful, but not deadly like it would of been if that sword hit the hatchling's neck. The feeling of foreboding deserted him, and he collapsed to the ground.
Later, after shooing the hatchlings out and getting the healer, Bluebird asked Mercy how he had known. He then explained his foreboding feeling and she nodded knowingly in a way that suggested she knew more than he did. And she did. She explained that many Water dragons had passed through the clan, almost all with their own unique ability to sense the future. She said that Mercy's foreboding feeling probably was that. An ability to sense a death in the near future and the possibility to stop it. Mercy wasn't sure whether to believe this, and if he did, why couldn't he save his mate? Or his children?
Not long after, he left. This place had been bright and friendly, but this ability had brought a little bit more of the darkness he already carried to his soul. He couldn't stay here. And so, he set out again to find a place that could bring that light and joy that had surrounded him in Starbound back to him.

I'd (AnonEclipse) suggest replacing "transparent" with "black" and putting the above devider below any writings you do for a more uniformed look. Of course, it's completely up to you. I won't mind. Probably wouldn't even know. You could also copy and paste this message (and the italic and transparent coding) to the end once you're done so the next can read it too, or not. You can even write your own message if you want to.
