Wishes on the Wind... |
What does a clan do when their main healer needs healing? Avitolia sighed in heavy weariness. She and the others had managed to stabalise Anemone and the stranger all those weeks ago, but the Clan-favorite was still fighting for every breath against the odd frost that covered her. "Miss Avitolia?" a tiny voice whispered as she stepped out into the hall, intending to grab a few minutes of rest. She'd nearly run down the little fae fledgeling who was looking young and berift and a tiny bit guilty. "I know everyone is really busy and sad, but could you look at the baby bird I rescued? I think it's sick, it won't eat. I tried everything! Seeds and bugs and shrimp and pudding and flowers and.." As the youngster mumbled on defensively, Avitolia peered at the tiny body in the crude box-cage. It was no baby, not even a bird though the Faechild couldn't have known. In the bottom of the box was an extreemly drained frostbite hummingbird, a little miracle chip of the Icewarden's own power! In the caves at the same time as a mysterious frost-sickness strikes? Impossible that it could be a coincidence. She barely managed not to snatch at it, trying not to scare the "rescuer" as she carefully released the catch on the lid and lifted the captive out. Breathing the most gentle trickle of magic into the little spirit-bird, her heart nearly stopped as the Frostbite Hummingbird went completely limp at the first touch. But her still-clumsy magic hadn't killed it. Starting to sparkle as it stirred in her hand it quickly revived and without warning, shot off into Anemone's sick-room. Shouts of surprise and then joy arose from the dragons tending the clan's beloved Zephyr-Dancer, and Avitolia and the little Fae joined them as Anemone blinked and slowly sat up. " |
