Kaito

The woods surrounded him as he sat in solitude. All around him, the sounds of the leaves rustling, the crashing of a distant waterfall, and the energy of earth as it coursed around him could be heard. His eyes were closed as he felt himself connect to the deepened mystery of the earth. The sound of soft footfalls fell behind him as his silence was disturbed. He felt a soft breath on his wings and the sound of her silvery voice in his ears.

“Do you remember the day we first met?”

This sent shivers down his spine. She always had this effect on him. She was enchanting, beautiful, and a Dragon that he still wasn’t convinced he deserved. Iola. The gorgeous Dragon that captured his heart many years ago. He turned to her, her beauty glowing in the high sunlight. “Of course I do. How could I forget?” He lifted his wings slightly, the sun illuminating them softly.

As he looked at her, the memories flooded back. They had met many years ago, when they were both very young. Both of them were born from the very essence of the Windsinger. Their voices, soft as the wind, and their essence as powerful as a storm. They grew up with the Elders, learning their purpose in the world. Kaito and Iola became very close to each other, always with each other and learning from themselves. When it was time for the two of them to create a powerful Clan, they chose to stay together; their love for each other growing into the stars. They followed each other through many different Flight, ands over many different terrains, but when they reached the powerful energy of Earth Flight, they knew that that was where they were to create their Clan. And it soon became so.

As they grew their Clan, it became evident that Kaito was a strong leader. He led the Clan on many adventures, and became revered as a mighty Dragon of the Wind Clan. But something still seemed off about Kaito. A longing still urged him to move forwards. As the time went by, the more he was pulled to return to the Windsinger. Lessons were still needed to be learned by him. Finally, the time came from Kaito to admit what he was feeling.

“You are leaving, my beloved?” Iola looked to him with sadness in her eyes. They stood in a small windswept valley. She stood, her wings filling with the breath of the wind.

“I must my dear. There is a calling deep within me that I must answer. The Windsinger, he has called me back.” He shook his head, a headache had started to form at the back of his mind.

“But, my love...our family. Our Clan. We cannot leave them.” Her voice started to waver with concern.

“You must stay, my dear. You must stay and tend to the Clan. I will be back. I promise.”

“No!” She exclaimed, the wind picking up with ease. He blinked at her, uncertain as what she was doing. “I must go with you. If you are to leave, then I will too.” She nudged her nose against his. His heart fluttered with love, and and he knew that he had to leave, but she would have to join him. They both were from the Windsinger’s domain, and both would heed the call.

So it was done, Iola and Kaito left to join the Windsinger once more. Their Clan continued to thrive just as well, but the energy was different; almost lonesome. Kaito and Iola lived in peace with the Elders as they learned more and more about what it meant to become a Wind Dragon Elder, but as time went by, something started to feel off. The Windsinger grew more restless and more and more Dragons appeared to the Windsinger’s Realm. Word started to spread that the Dragons of the Realm were to prepare for battle on the different Flights, and of a Beast Clan. This news brought fear to Iola and Kaito. They were summoned to fight for the Windsinger, but their hearts told them that fighting would only lead to tragedy. So, together still, they decided that it was time resign from the Windsinger’s Domain and go back to their home.

This proved to be a much harder quest than one would say. Many Dragons that encountered them would enforce that they join the ranks of Dragons leaving for the war. Many times did they have to fight their own way through the influencing lines, but through it all, they managed to stay together, and to stay alive. For many years, this prevailed, but their mission and their purpose still hung true. Three years later, they had finally made their way out of the Windsinger’s domain, and back to the Earth Flight. They ventured forwards to their old Clan and, with pride and dignity, sighed in relief that their home was still there. The clan had flourished, a beauty to see. Kaito and Iola entered, leaving all eyes that fell upon them awestruck. Kaito walked with his head held high and his eyes on the home that he and his beloved had created. Kaito and Iola were legends in the eyes of those who came before them. One of the few Dragons to have escaped the war that built in the Realms above. They were revered and honored, but they kept their dignity to themselves, and to the home in which they loved.

Kaito lead his Clan in proud and honorable way. He was stronger from his years of fighting, but he was much more wholesome. He respected each Dragon that entered his domain, and in return, they respected him. He was a Dragon of stories that were soon passed through all of Earth Flight. Holding his head high, he was considered regal in some aspects. But it wouldn’t have been if he didn’t answer his heart’s call. He learned many lessons with the Windsinger, but one lesson he will forever recite: True beauty, and true strength, can only be found in the darkness.

Kaito looked at Iola now, as they stood in the forest. His nose touched hers, and her heart fluttered with love. “I could never forget the Dragon that helped me through the worst days of my life, and lead me to the best days.”

“And to many more.” She whispered.

“And to many more.”
