Biography

Amethyst was originally born into a lightning clan to the parents Sythlar and Gladiolus, but he was not there for long. Only a few days into his life, the young dragon was eyed off by a travelling guardian named Cthulhu. She was the Matriarch of a foreign Ice flight known as the Horde of Frozen Tides. After giving birth to a nest of only Fae, she longed for a child who looked like her. Although saying they were similar in appearance was quite a stretch, it was a closer resemblance than any of her own kin. He was the first Guardian adopted by Cthulhu in an attempt to fill this vain longing. He was called Amethyst in honour of his Crystaline scales. He was Cthulhu's gem.

His life started fortuitously - he was welcomed into the clan warmly and honourably. He was treated as an equal to Cthulhu and her mate Baeyamoth's birth hatchlings Eriarezi and Kelpie, receiving the same high quality education in multiple facets. Although it was not known to the young dragons, the three were being groomed to compete and assume the clan's heir positions. Amethyst took a natural shine to fighting and trained daily under the tutelage of RoseQuartz - Head of the Fighting, Service and Combat Force. It was in these lessons he met a dragon named Quetzal. Just another thing for him to take quite a shine to.

RoseQuartz was impressed by his potential and skills. Once she believed him to be ready, not only did she scout him out to join her faction, she recruited him for a special new task force - the Guidance, Egalitarianism and Morality Squad. Or the G.E.M. Squad for short. Being a member of both was no easy task,

When Amethyst returned from the Pilgrimage without Eriarezi, he expected to be welcomed by his much-missed loving mate and dear hatchling. Instead, he was met by heartbreak and a ravaged territory. While he was away, Quetzal had fallen in love with another dragon and had even gone so far as to have hatchlings with him. His last words to her were a remark about how she could have sent a messenger dragon to him at any time and he would have understood. This, along with the discovery that his son Taranis had runaway from the clan to serve the Icewarden shortly after his mother had moved on, shattered Amethyst.

He tried to set his feelings aside and resume his duties as Head of the Fighting, Service and Combat Force, but it was hard for him to readjust to life in the Horde, especially since he had lost everything in his mind. His claws itched to be out again, scaling territories unknown, fighting beasts and vanquishing foes. This icy den was too much for him. Spending his days training hatchlings to fight and fighting a hypothetical war. It was too much indeed. He concluded that he'd have to leave the Horde of Frozen Tides and sort himself out.

After he had made this decision to himself, Cthulhu sought Amethyst out. He thought this would be time to reveal his plan to her but . . . she had news. She had decided that she was wrong. Eriarezi held no true concern for the clan. Amethyst must take his place as Honoured Heir of Throne. Unsure what to do, he agreed to go along with it. And he did. He participated in all the preparations, expressed his gratitude, wrote a speech. He was perfectly pleasant and did what was expected of him . . . . until he snuck out the night before his own coronation.

Amethyst spent many days travelling with no destination in mind. It was a hard journey for a lone dragon. He wandered for so very very long. But even without his knowing, his claws had only one place to take him. The dragons he felt like he belonged with. They had taken him in, taught him so much, and fought along side him. Treated him how he wished he'd been treated back in the Horde.

He returned to Ennion's clan. Finally, a place that felt like home.
