Ariadne removed the strip of cloth wrapped around her head. She touched the stub on each side. She winced at the memory of someone chopping off the horns she was so proud of. A demon without horns was just like a human without arms.
"Will your horns ever grow back?" Mia questioned. She had sat herself down unceremoniously on Ariadne's bed. Without permission, of course.
"Will your limbs ever grow back if they've been amputated?" Ariadne replied gruffly.
"If you sell your soul to the devil, maybe." Mia chuckled at her own joke, "What did your horns look like?"
"Not too long, slightly curved..." Ariadne trailed off. Her hands instinctively reached up at the space where her horns used to be. She sighed.
Mia got off the bed and made her way to Ariadne. Her arms snaked around the taller woman from behind. Her head pressed against Ariadne's back.
"I'm sure your horns were beautiful." Mia said softly.
"So what if they were? I'm just a monster to people." Ariadne laughed darkly.
"I'm a monster too, Ari." Mia hugged her tighter, "I'm a monster too."
