Biography
Parsley was just a hatchling when he was abandoned. His memories of that time are limited, but the fact that he didn’t have parents doesn’t bother him. There were many things that were different about Parsley, even at that young age. Thankfully, an older grandmother was able to raise him in his parent’s stead.
The young Nocturne was nonverbal - sometimes he wondered if this was why his parents abandoned him - and his grandmother still took it upon herself to train him many things. Firstly, she taught him literacy and how to speak with his body, enabling them to communicate. Secondly, she taught him much about plants and their properties. She was a herbalist and taught Parsley her art, making sure that he could identify all manner of plants and be able to utilize the most useful.
But, the growing dragon spent much time away from other dragons because few others could communicate without their voices. As a result, he never learned how to read people. He is overly sensitive and becomes obsessed over the littlest things. These traits resulted in his social life being limited to his grandmother.
One day his obsessiveness and knowledge of herbs was put to the test. His grandmother took ill and Parsley would not rest until he found her a cure. So, he struck off for the Sunbeam Ruins in search of a plant he knew would help his grandmother. Unfortunately, she was so ill that nothing would help her and she passed away, leaving Parsley very much alone.
With no other relatives, but having some luck, the hypersensitive dragon came across Clan Brightfalls. They were kind and provided him a place to live, but it was all different from the life he knew before. Communicating and living with his grandmother was easy, almost enjoyable. This clan, while they do try, do not understand Parsley’s unique mind and so it is difficult for him. Because he has problems understanding others’ actions he often misinterprets them, resulting in disagreements.
Parsley regularly comes across as self-serving and insensitive. This, coupled with his inability to speak, isolates him from the rest of the clan. Usually, he is cultivating his plants and burying his head in botanical scrolls. He is able to put his knowledge of plants to use while helping the clan healers, but other than that he prefers to spend his time alone. The only one consistently at his side is his Timber Tender.
