B I O G R A P H Y

Ieyu was the eldest of seven. After her came her sisters Wavecrest and Luox, then her sister Tardes and her brother Diaz, and then her youngest sister, Isonoe. All of them looked nearly identical-she felt like just another part of the set. There was another brother. He died young, and Ieyu couldn't remember his name. They were all abandoned by their parents before Isonoe had even hatched.
Isonoe hatched two days after they were abandoned. Despite being just a child herself, Ieyu took charge, taking care of her newly hatched sister and working with Wavecrest and Luox to catch the small fish in a nearby pond.
A few weeks after being abandoned, they were found by other dragons, who convinced them to leave their makeshift home with a promise of proper food and a warm cave and older dragons to look after them.
The dragons were blacksmiths, from a forge in the Ashfall Wastes. It was known in the area for its mass production of useful items, which were used all over the Wastes. What most dragons didn’t know, was that the dragons who ran the forge were known for kidnapping young dragons, and forcing them to work.
She lived most of her life there, in the smoke and heat. She watched as all of her siblings died over the years, in accidents near the lava, or sickness caused by continuous smoke inhalation. She met Selenay there.

It was right after Wavecrest died, and Ieyu had been afflicted with the same sickness as her, which caused weariness and hallucinations. She had seen a glint of shimmery blue-green through the smoke, and yelled for Wavecrest. Selenay had turned around instead.
Selenay had helped her, gone to their supervisor and convinced him to use just a bit of medicine on her, just so the sickness wouldn’t spread. The Wildclaw probably saved her life. She was always there for her, no matter what.
Selenay didn't have any parents either, but for a different reason. She admitted to Ieyu that she ran away, because she couldn't bear her parents disappointment--that she wasn't as talented as her many siblings, that she could never compare to even her younger siblings. Sometimes she missed them, but she knew it was wishful thinking that they would welcome her back.
They were both young at the time, although Selenay was a bit older. Ieyu, still clinging to her childishness, declared that Selenay's siblings were terrible, so she was going to be her new sibling from now on. It was a joking promise made with lots of laughter, at the time, but they still honored it even in the hardest of times--especially during the hardest of times. They became sisters in everything but blood. They dreamed of escaping together and starting a new life.
They did get out, eventually. But not together.
Through the years, they drifted apart. Selenay was still hopeful and kind. Ieyu became jaded and bitter. Sometimes she would growl about getting revenge, or dragonkind being worthless. She was tired, and convinced everyone in the world was like the ones that imprisoned her. One day, she snapped, and made a half-baked escape attempt, thinking Selenay would help her. It turned into a riot. In the process, Ieyu escaped, but believed that Selenay died.
After that, Ieyu lived in the Sea of a Thousand Currents for several months, while Selenay traveled the world trying to find her.

B I O G R A P H Y

Ieyu had once revealed to Selenay a secret about her birth. While she was a Nature dragon, her egg had hatched in the Spiral Keep. Her parents lived in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and were asking for the blessing of the Tidelord. Instead of gaining Nature magic, she had Water magic, more powerful than that of an ordinary water dragon. Selenay had been delighted at the time, that her friend was a Water mage like her. Now, she feared what Ieyu would do with that power.
Ieyu met Kyras, Naerea, and Zuri during their visit to Oriana. During that time, she was planning to hunt down and kill all dragons she saw as evil. Kyras and Naerea attempted to interfere, and Selenay didn’t arrive in time. Naerea’s brother Gareki was already dead, and Ieyu was about to kill Naerea.
Ieyu refused to back down. Selenay refused to give up on her sister. Eventually, she beat Ieyu, both with words and magic, and the Coatl fled. Selenay returned to Clan Saeiyrn with Kyras and Zuri, while Naerea returned to the Anaey Clan.

A few months later, Ieyu appeared at the Clan Saeiyrn camp. She talked with Selenay, and revealed that she had been thinking about her outlook on the world. She was lost, and unsure of what to do, and so turned to the only dragon she had left in the world.
Ieyu became a permanent member of Clan Saeiyrn. She and Selenay worked towards forgiveness, of both each other and the world. And years later, they remained.
Ieyu married Kyras, and they had three hatchlings. Ridhi was the oldest; he wasn’t gifted with magic like his sisters, but he was bold and adventurous. Once he was old enough, he began taking short trips to visit other Flights, and always came back with a journal filled with observations. Selecei was the middle child. She dreamed of being an author, and was fascinated by other dragons-the way they viewed the world, their hopes and dreams and fears. She wanted to tell their stories, to document all the amazing things they had seen. Like Ridhi, she wanted to know about the vast world, but while he was preoccupied with the wildlife, she looked at experiences. Aata was the youngest. She seemed to be the opposite of her siblings. She was shy and quiet, and was more interested in books than the world outside the clan. She was exceptional at magic though, and had a talent and eagerness for learning the intricacies of different spells: the temperament of elemental magic, the languages of runic magic, even the precision of alchemy.

The happiness Ieyu found was ruined when Selecei went missing. A week later, her body was found. It was declared a wild animal attack; it was easy to forget how dangerous many animals were, when most could be easily killed by a fully grown dragon.
It took months for Ieyu to return to her life again. Eventually, she managed to move on and live happily again, after adding Selecei’s name to the list of lost loved ones in her head, right beside her siblings, and vowing never to forget her.
Adria and Acacia, the leaders and founders of the clan, began considering retirement. To make the load of leading the clan easier on them, Ieyu did some of their duties for them. By the time they officially retired and announced her and Kyras as the new clan leaders, no one was surprised-except maybe her. She gladly accepted her new position, and now leads the clan.
