The first light in the world she knew had shone from her mother's face after hatching, giving her the first taste of love that she had ever known. Then the storm came as her father decided her fate in the clan. Like a rag-doll he would throw her around, rendering her limbs nearly destroyed and head severely damaged. Her wings were unable to assist her in her escape. But she was thrown into the wilds of the Viridian Labyrinth before she could even get in a flap from them. Her father was a Ridgeback, this she knew. She also knew she could never hope to find forgiveness in her heart for the brutish male.

Battered and broken, nearly on death's door, she silently wept at how cruelly the Gods seemed to treat her in casting her from the family she had just been given. Her blood stained the forest floor, giving predators the chance to sniff her out for an easy meal. But that wouldn't happen as a pair of Pearlcatchers descended upon her, bearing different scents than those of her parents. There was a female there. The dark hues of her form made Loved shake in fear at wondering if she was being visited by an omen who would take her to the afterlife. The other Pearlcatcher was a male with white smoke writhing against his hide. She was drawn to the mesmerizing patterns and was soothed. Later on she would learn that their names were Luna and Fog and that they would take her back to their clan.

Before they could even gather her broken form from the ground, she slipped into unconsciousness and they knew there would be a battle to keep her alive. The Lightning dragons of the clan would be needed to assist in preventing the Ridgeback hatchling from succumbing to the fate her father had dealt her. With haste and determination the two older dragons took Loved to the clan's lair in the Beacon of the Radiant Eye.

It was a long and grueling process for Divinity, Snowflake, Horizon and Idaris to help the grayscale female. There was little they could do to preserve her legs as the bones were shattered beyond belief, but with determination they created cybernetic implants to provide a quartet of prosthetics. Due to the amount of damage to her head, they also had to create a metal casing for it.

Throughout the time it took to heal the young Ridgeback, Fog never left her side, making sure that she knew someone was there to protect her from the nightmares that tried to threaten her sleep. She was grateful for his care and came to trust him as an older brother figure. But there came a day, when she was much older, that he left the clan. She would miss the older Pearlcatcher who had helped save her life, but her life was not the way she had thought it would be and she remained in the clan that had unconditionally adopted her.
