Biography
It was not so much of a legend among them. Nor a memory as such, but a " living truth" if such a thing could be called living. Theirs was a clan who held ghosts to be fact. It was hard to discount something as superstition when you woke every day to face it. To face her.
She was known as a Kikimora, the Kikimora, a title just as much a name. They had known, at first, that she was a spirit, but somehow for a time, this was forgotten. But not forever. Memory returns and time assured them that she was, in fact, a ghost.
She had no vengeful call, no unfinished business to attend to, simply this: she was theirs. They cared for her, and so she stayed. It may have been a kind of love, the bond formed from the clan's collective sense of pride and comfort in her presence. She spoke, sometimes. It was far and few between, but when she spoke, they listened. More often though, she was just... there. Beside a hatchling taking their first steps. Accompanying the fighters on their travels. Behind a flame when stories were recounted.
It has never been asked of her where she came from, or why. There is a quiet understanding that if it is to be known, she will be the one to put forth words. So they do not ask. They do not mind. Hatchlings live and grow beside her and never learn to fear an end. They are not gripped with terror of the unknown, because it lives with them. It settles in with them at night to sleep. No matter what may come, they know this. They can come home.
