As the only Fae in Astrapi, Zap is used to attracting stares. She likes to screw with the more gullible hatchlings and new clanmates by playing up the "mad mystical alchemist" act, but the truth is she's a straightforward research chemist. She enjoys her work greatly and is fearless (but not stupid) with the kinds of experiments required to learn anything new or develop the novel into the useful. Tough and clever, by now she has a sixth sense where danger is concerned just because she'd have been a layer of mixed organic chemicals on the floor of her lab long ago if she hadn't developed one. She and her mate Shock (a materials scientist) are well-respected scientists across the Expanse and well-respected within Astrapi both for their valuable work and for their general ability to melt anyone that truly crosses them. Not that this has ever manifested- they are both good-natured and good-humored- but testing some people is just not smart.

Like any scientist, her primary drive is curiosity, and her first instinct is always to share information. This occasionally drives the clan's lawyer Caine completely around the bend; constantly fighting a losing battle with patents isn't his idea of a fun time.
