Ironside

Ironside was one of the first children born to the clan. She grew up in their old lair and her favourite activity was to fly around the open air that surrounded their caves, dodging cliffs and tucking her wings in for steep drops before pulling out of them at the last minute. She was known for being reckless and perhaps a little foolish as a youngling, often earning her mother's annoyance as much as her father's laughter.

When her clan was forced to leave their home, however, Ironside took on much more responsibility. While her family traversed the wilds she defended them from lurking beasts and brought back what food she could. Her acrobatic flying turned to scouting ahead and she channelled her reckless energy into keeping her clan safe and fed. She and her mother grew much closer over this time, Belladonna's trust in her daughter growing as Ironside began to understand and respect the role of clan leader that her mother had been in her whole life.

It is not too surprising then that, once the long journey was over and Bella decided to step down from clan leader, she passed the title to her daughter. The rest of the clan already trusted and respected Ironside and Bella knew her daughter was entirely capable. The only dragon anxious about her ability to be clan leader was Ironside herself.

Since the switch of power, however, Ironside has proved herself as a good and fair leader. She is still seen often asking her mother for guidance as she adjusts to her new role, but her decision making is sound and her care for her clan shows through her every act. And sometimes, when it gets to be too much, Ironside is still known to take to the sky for an hour or two, flying blindingly fast and absurdly high, enjoying the feeling of being utterly free.
