Saphir is the Commander of the Ground Sentries and Defence Corps. She is very organised and only chooses the best natured dragons to undertake training to join the ranks. Though she hates the heat, she will push through all trials and tribulations to protect and further the development of Thothiare. She is an understanding leader and makes sure all of her subordinates are happy and healthy. However, she can not handle slackers or unmotivated people and has kicked many out of her training school. There are many dragons in the clan that have only achieved a small amount of training from her. She is considering taking re-applications.

Her favourite students are Ira and Meroe.

She prides herself in her daunting appearance and says that half the battle is often won with first impressions.
