______ This Bogsneak is a fright to behold. Decked in bones he stalks the lair at night for corpses to dig up and eat or use in his grisly potions. He summons the spirits of the dead to do his bidding and the withered specter of a Malevolent Spirit called Dracolich dogs his steps. Parents warn hatchlings if they are naughty he will snatch them away and gobble them up. Those who see the lights of his floating candles are advised to turn over and go back to sleep rather than investigate. If you are close enough to see the purple glow of his potion-stained claws it is already too late. Seeped in the Plague Flight philosophy of Kill or be Killed Varanus is anti-social to the point of violence. Hatched a scrawny mirror with no parentage in the Abiding Wasteland he had to fight for everything he got (usually literally) to claw his way to the top (again literally). As a lone mirror without a pack he lived on scavenging rather than hunting, being unable to take down any large prey on his own. What meat he could find was hurriedly stolen from the kills of others, either large hunting packs or the smaller hunting parties of Wildclaws and he would be be hurt if he was caught. He came to regard groups of other dragons as a threat to his living, an attitude that has continued after leaving the plague lands and brewing a potion to change him into a more intimidating dragon.

______ His magic manifests as an oily black smoke that he can infuse the dead with, causing them to return to some semblance of life. For years these corpse constructs have been his only dependable allies and are the only ones he trusts. Having never experienced genuine friendship or kindness in his childhood Varanus immediately distrusts those who try to treat him nicely. He only has respect for those with the same drive as him, regardless of what it's towards. He wouldn't even be staying in the Lair if it wasn't for DAVE and Noizyboi as two he respects enough to consider almost...friends. He is mostly non-verbal and dislikes social situations. He has good reason to be afraid of crowds and will scream and shriek when uncomfortable before attacking.
