NAMIIRU
Alchemist, Headmistress of the Barracks

She has been all over Sornieth looking for her magic.

Born in the Southern Icefields, Namiiru's parents taught her the importance of science and medicine. She was more drawn to the mysticism of her mother's alchemy than her father's more practical potion making, but found that she lacked that "magic touch" that seemed to be the birthright of her species. Despite this, even from a young age she was clever and good with her hands. She picked up trades quickly, whether it was weaving fabric, or preparing food, or even crafting weapons. But when none of these talents brought her any real satisfaction, she began to feel that she had been cheated out of the magical prowess all other Skydancers seemed to possess. Eventually, this desire for something more led her to search beyond the borders of her native flight.

She crossed deserts, oceans, forests, valleys, and plains as she traveled north. Along the way, she met with a variety of dragons-- mages and alchemists, scholars and snake charmers, witches and warriors, and everything in between. She pried every new acquaintance for knowledge and understanding, still seeking the secret that she felt she had lost. Eventually, her search led her to the caves of Brookvault, rumored to contain some potent, long-slumbering magic nearly as old as the gods.

Unfortunately for the Skydancer, her stay was not as productive as she'd hoped. Despite all her charm and the little tricks that she'd accumulated over her travels, Namiiru was unable to figure out the clan's leader, Twopond. Although the helmeted Mirror granted her the weighty task of ensuring Brookvault's security, Namiiru remained haunted by the feeling that Twopond secretly despised her and had deceived her into a meaningless, dead-end job. Disconcerted by the leader's percieved micromanaging and her hallucinations of the rest of the clan breathing down her neck, the Skydancer eventually left Brookvault to resume travelling, knowing no more than when she first arrived there.

Leaving Dragonhome, she traveled next through the Tangled Wood. She gained no real insight there, and was instead, unfortunately, bitten by an Onyx Cobra while wading through a swampy region. Though initially this had little effect on her travels, as her gembond infection began to set in she was forced to stop for medicine to help alleviate the pain. The merchants of the caravan that sold it to her recommended she visit the Hewn City, saying that surely the powerful mages there would be able to help her awaken her own hidden potential.

Not long after, she began travelling with a group of younger mercenaries, headed for Clan Nightshade. When they arrived, the group settled into the newly renovated barracks; while her younger and more able-bodied companions went out to train as warriors, Namiiru sought instruction in magic. Unfortunately, neither of the clan's two mages could seem to make time for her; the clan's apothecary, however, helped find her some medicine to prevent her gembond from becoming crippling.

Disgruntled by yet another setback, Namiiru was almost at the point of setting out again when word reached her of a Pearlcatcher operating out of the Trading Post. He was said to be a powerful alchemist, capable of performing great feats with his cauldron. Interested, she went to attend one of his lectures, and soon after enlisted as one of his apprentices. Within a few moons, she was creating her own variations, and had established herself as one of his most talented pupils.

Despite being the closest thing Clan Nightshade has to an expert alchemist, the matriarch, wary of Namiiru's flight of origin, has declined to induct her as a full clan member. The Skydancer remains housed in the same barracks that the migrant workers, travelers, and exaltees-in-training stay in, though she's begun customizing her own, more luxurious roost up in the rafters. She considers herself and her mate (fellow transplant Rhaelon from Clan Stargaze) responsible for maintaining order in the barracks, and has been known to take dragons to task rather harshly for failing to obey her orders.
