Ametrine Guardian of Found Eggs Ametrine has always been fond of shiny things. Since he was a young hatchling, he collected bits and baubles that caught his fancy. These were often other dragon's possessions, and he would often get in trouble for the heirlooms and trinkets he squirreled away. Eventually, he discovered the incredible array of colorful minerals that lay in Sornieth's hills. Now, he travels among the territories, seeking new specimens to add to his ever growing collection. His den is one of the lowest and closest to the water, with shelves carved out of the rock to hold his precious possessions. Ametrine is often found washing minerals at the water's edge, or wandering the Crystal Pools in search of more. (Zenith is often sent to fetch him, to her exasperation.) He found his Snipper there as a tiny shrimp, raising it with care until it was nearly his size. It guards his den from curious hatchlings while he's away. He doesn't trust anyone not to break anything unless he's there, but he enjoys the excited ooh's and aah's of entranced hatchlings at a piece of moonstone. |

When Ametrine reached adulthood, Nalani decided that someone needed to take care of all the eggs they found, and it might as well be him. In retrospect, she thinks she couldn't have made a worse mistake. The Fae took to them as if they were diamonds, and kept them in pristine condition until the first, a tiny mirror, pushed his way out of the swirled shell. Instead of a more traditional name like many parents preferred, Ametrine was lost at what to call his new foster, and eventually decided to name him after one of his many minerals. Indicolite grew up strong and happy, and eventually more eggs hatched. Each one was named according to Ametrine's preferance, to the irritation of many other dragons- including Antares- but you cannot defy the power of a name, and so they stuck. Now, Ametrine has a host of young dragons that look to him for guidance, troubling Ayida. All of them have the same irrepressible nature as their father, and are exceedingly useful to the clan. She steams in her tower at the power he doesn't even realize he holds. Ametrine is oblivious to his leader's nature, interested only in his rocks and loving children. |
