♦♦♦♦♦♦ Co-Founder/Leader Loving | Nurturing | Sensible Hoard Keeper Peacekeeper Hatchling Guardian Koiora Clan Lore - Delphines Story November 14th, 2023. I remember it like it was yesterday, but in reality it must have been ages ago. My wings were very tired, I was almost unable to move them. I knew I had been flying for some time, but it hadn’t felt quite that long. Why I was flying, I couldn’t tell you. I just knew I was restless, I couldn’t stay in one spot, I was searching for something, but what? The place I once called home no longer seemed as such. Was that it? Was it time for me to find a new home? A new clan? A new… family? I had decided to take a break from flying and walk through the forest. Maybe take a nap under an old willow tree and clear my mind. I was sure that was what I needed. Just a nap. I felt as though I was going crazy. “Was that possible? Could a dragon go crazy?” Crazy thoughts ran through my mind. When I snapped back into reality I was lost, I knew not of where I was. I had never seen this place before, these trees, these smells. Where was I? And why was I here? Panicking, I began to sprint through the forest trying to find a familiar smell or tree. I tried to fly thinking that I could find myself easier if I had an aerial view, but my wings almost seemed to lock up. I had to rely on my legs to get me home. I felt myself come to a sudden stop as I smelled another dragon in the area. Knowing I could be in anothers territory frightened me, but something deep within me urged me to move closer. Wearily, I approached the unfamiliar dragon scent. I came upon a dark green Guardian dragon and a pale green Aether dragon lying on the ground. They weren’t moving, they looked emaciated, the smell… They smelled of death. “Were they…?” I thought to myself. I tried to get closer to see if they were breathing. I couldn’t tell. I wasn’t close enough. Terrified now, I was almost petrified with fear, but I knew at this point that this is why I was wandering so aimlessly. They needed me, or maybe.. me, them? I got within paws length of them, I could hear them breathing, but very faintly. I knew I needed to help them, but how could I, a small Fae dragon, help these big dragons? I looked to the sky, maybe I could find a wandering dragon to help, but the skies were as clear as the river. I could leave for help, but there was no guarantee I would find them again. I went to plan B; find a nearby shelter and get them to it. I mustered up all of the strength I had left in my wings to fly above the treetops looking for anything that could be used as temporary shelter. I saw a large cave bore into the side of a mountain. It wasn’t very far, perhaps I could get them there somehow? Hours seemed to pass as I tried to figure out how to get them to the cave. The sound of heavy breathing broke through my concentrated thought. “food… please.. anything..” I heard one say, with what seemed like the last of the air in their lungs. “Yes! Of course!” I said, back into a panicked state. These dragons lives rested in my small Fae paws. I rushed to the nearby pond and caught as many dragonflies as I could carry with the strength I had left. I feared the worst on the way back, all I could do was hope the Gladekeeper heard my prayers. I returned to find the Aether dragon wearily trying to lift itself up, as I scurried to their side to help they let out a low growl, one that suggested I keep my distance. "I... Here, I brought you and your friend some insects. I know it's not much but please eat something." The three of us sat in silence for the next several minute, almost in a standoff. We were all alone, we were all weak, and most importantly, we were all scared. The only thing any of us could do at this point was trust each other if we wanted to survive the night, and the aether knew that. |
