Biography
Mariana was once the perfect predator. Swift and silent in the sky, and equally cunning, there was no prey in the land that could possibly hope to escape her sights, and she took immense pride in this. However, that all changed one fateful day...
She was on the hunt as usual, gliding through the ocean currents with an unmatched grace, as she searched for food to sate her hunger. So far, all she'd found were small fish, hardly worth the energy. But then, she saw it: A large, plump tuna. This was the sort of meal she was looking for. Without a second thought, she folded her wings and began weaving her way swiftly towards her target. Unfortunately, the tuna chose that moment to turn around, glimpsing the fierce beast heading for it. Naturally, the tuna swerved to the side and made a break for a cave, with Mariana still hot on it's tail. The tuna never made it to the cave, as Mariana's claws closed around it long before, however Mariana misjudged the speed at which she was now travelling, leading to her crashing violently into the rocks. The rest was a blur. Unable to move one of her wings properly, she had to swim slowly and clumsily back to shallow water, where she found an opening to a larger cave, which lead into a small underground cavern, where she was able to drag herself out of the water, and to see the large gash in her side.
It was here that she was found by a small, blue Fae on the night of a terrible storm. This dragon, Atoll, would look after her as her wound healed. Sadly, even after the wound healed, Mariana was still incapable of flight. The damage to her wing muscle was deep.
After the wound was healed, Mariana found that Atoll was still not leaving. Perhaps she would tolerate his presence for a little while longer...
Eventually, new dragons started arriving in the lair. Though Atoll insisted that there was room for them all here, Mariana was always wary. Her injury had left her feeling vulnerable and being surrounded by so many dragons initially unnerved her.
When Atoll took the role of leader, Mariana remained by his side to support him, essentially becoming his adviser. Her wary nature works as a counterbalance to Atoll's impulsiveness, and she will offer input whenever she feels that he is not seeing things clearly.
