Biography
Tskäne truly had no idea what he was in for when he first struck out by himself, as a youngster. Bold with youth, he sought to cobble together a clan of his own, and that he did. He met his first mate, a fae with no name, and together they raised a clutch of only one. With Prism's hatching, the three solidified the name of clan Aurelex.
Life was manageable with only three; in times of hardship, the dragons would appeal to their neighbours for help, and repay their goodwill where possible. However, Aurelex began to pick up wanderers. With more bodies came security, but also constraint. This began Tskäne's true tenure as a clan leader. To lead, one must make decisions, and decisions oft bring regret. His mate, the nameless fae, died in a beastclan ambush that he was lucky to escape from alive. He wasn't left unscathed from the incident and lost his right eye.
The ordeal rocked him, and left him hardened for some time, but for good or worse he grew into an effective leader. Aurelex continued to grow at a slow pace. Many newcomers were in the late employ of the Great Furnace and came with treasure, trinkets and talents that grew Aurelex's status. It was around this time the clan began to dig in earnest, carving out a lair for themselves with their own claws.
One of the newcomers in this period was the guardian Tiamat. She and Tskäne grew close, indeed - together, they raised a humble clutch of three. As the hatchlings grew, Tiamat's presence did, also. The guardian's self-assuredness and skill in all areas of life were a boon to the clan, and most were fond of her. Especially Tskäne. Her presence and unflappable personality were an inspiration to his own growth.
Her sudden departure once more rocked Tskäne's world, but he could hardly keep a fellow guardian from her eternal quest, and the whims of one's own free will. Their offspring filled out into well-rounded dragons, especially Kaiisha. She had the spirit of her mother, and then some. Unwittingly, Tskäne exercised unnecessary control over the ice-white young dragon. This, she chafed at, and it took her threatening to leave the clan - the clan whose leadership she was angling to take, after Tskäne's tenure - for him to realise just how harshly he'd treated her.
The numbers of Aurelex steadily grew, and the clan began to truly shape itself. Their lair expanded rapidly, and treasure started to trickle in when diggers unearthed veins of raw minerals. This only attracted the attention of vagabonds further, and in time, Aurelex became a hub for not only digging, but smelting, too. While hardly a bustling enterprise, the ingots they exported were welcomed by local traders. Tskäne had helped guide the clan through tenuous survival to a somewhat comfortable life.
The contentious cutbacks in blacksmith pay and then the employee shut-out of the Great Furnace caused a ripple effect throughout the Ashfall Wastes; even on the fringes, Aurelex was hit hard. It was a time of absolute scarcity. Aurelex's production and exports came to a grinding halt, and instead of small hunt parties, the entire clan had to resort to hunting for survival.
