Biography

Uh-oh, looks like this elegant Guardian wandered a little too far from her lair (157458, SilverPhoenix), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the urge to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her home instead, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here.

Scorned and cast out of her birth clan for being ugly, Agate wandered for quite a while, hoping to find a clan that would not shun her. Eventually she found Silver's clan, which was at the time quite small, who welcomed her. She finally was happy, having even been introduced to Silver's son, Cocoa, who would later become her mate. Then tragedy struck, and Cocoa left to serve the Icewarden, leaving in the dead of night. Agate was once again lost, two of her children having gone with Cocoa, and the third gone to join a new clan. She decided to leave as well, bidding a quick farewell to her friends before flying off. She didn't know where she would end up, but she hoped that somewhere along the way she might find happiness again.

After days of tiring flight, Agate's wings were caught by a savage wind that pulled her into a storm. All throughout the night Agate battled zephyrs and gusts, and when finally the storm broke she landed at the first clearing she came to and stumbled forward, too weak to even think as she collapsed and passed out where she landed.
When she awoke, it was to the soft, rasping voice of a mirror. Suddenly aware she was in an unfamiliar place Agate struggled to stand up and clear the blurriness from her vision. The mirror burst into nervous chatter, but stepped forward and prevented her from getting up. He quickly explained that his name was Berk, and that he had found her passed out while out hunting for his clan.
After taking her back to his clan's matriarch Agate was expecting a big disease ridden mirror, everyone knew the rumors about the plague flight! Instead she got a blue imperial who welcomed her with open arms and told her she was free to stay as long as she liked.

Agate spent many days with Berk, and quickly fell in love with him. Things progressed, and before she knew it it was as if she had truly reclaimed her old life. She now had a nest with a dragon she loved and would soon be looking forward to two children.
However, a night before their eggs would hatch Berk came to her and told her that he would be leaving in two days to aid the Lightning flight and the StormCatcher. Agate felt as if her entire world was being shattered all over again, and in a fit of hurt fury, stormed away from Berk never to look back.
She no longer wanted this life, no longer wanted the eggs that would only remind her of all her loss once again. She would regret this decision later perhaps, but for now her heart was heavy with hurt and her mind clouded with anger.
And so she fled from the Cartico clan, running for days and nights on end, until she reached her next destination.

Wings heavy with sorrow, she she was forced to stop in the abiding boneyard. A warm welcome she did not receive. She shunned the option of breeding whilst there as she did not wish to be reminded of her past losses. Considered too ugly for valuable apparel to be wasted upon, and with the clan focus on levelling fodder for a dominance push, she was given nothing by hostile children of plague.
Agate was too hurt to trust another dragon so she befriended a cloud chaser who was still yet wary of the clan. Enjoying the newfound platonic companionship, she invited the cloud chaser to join her on her journeys in return for protection. Together, they set off, hoping to find a better land.

World wary Agate found herself high up in the Ascent of wind territory and decide to land to rest her tired wings. She and her cloud chaser companion were surprised to suddenly find themselves overshadowed by a huge white guardian female. The white dragon's wings sparkled and flashed in the sun, her body covered in beautiful gold accents. It was more than a little overwhelming for one who had been considered "plain" at best and generally ugly. But the other guardian welcomed her warmly to the clan, showing her off to the main lair of the group. There were a great many large imperials that occupied the outcropping, sunning themselves or swooping through the reeds and clouds. She found herself escorted to a small area off to the side of the main clan where a good many other visitors made their temporary homes. Some of them were only too glad to share food and stories with her. She decided perhaps this would be a fine place to stay, if only for awhile.

Although the clan was quite friendly, Agate began to feel the itch in her wings that signaled it was time to travel once more. She and her cloud chaser companion moved east to the Ashfall Wastes. Expecting a lair full of vibrant fire dragons, Agate was astounded to find dragons with muted colors similar to her own. There were many smoky dragons with grey, purple and black colored skins. Ianthe, a lavender imperial, immediately took a liking to Agate's sweet personality. The two girls spent many evenings by the lava pools talking about Agate's travels. As a token of friendship, Ianthe gives Agate a pair of wing bangles to match her bracelets. Slowly, the fragile guardian's heart begins to heal.

Agate soon found her way into the Veins of the Twisting Sycamore, where she met a motley crew of dragons of all ages and sizes. The guardian was warmly welcomed into the clan, where she spent many days learning the particulars of this clan's interesting habits, including (but not limited to): debating the validty of Swipp's trades, throwing owlets from trees, and training an assortment of storm seekers in preparation for war- or whenever that would occur. Slowly, Agate became accustomed to her clan's habits, and became good friends with Squirry, a squishy spiral, and Baisha, a neurotic normal nocturne. The trio would often hunt together, and enjoyed their close friendship.

Unfortunately, Agate became homesick, and dearly missed her home clan in the Snowsquall Tundra. She confided in her friends of her intentions to return home; the spiral and nocturne were crestfallen, and tried to convince Agate to stay for a little longer. However, the guardian's heart was set on returning- there was no turning back. As a token of their friendship, Squirry and Baisha presented Agate with a pair of pearly earrings, which they had "borrowed" from Baldwin when he wasn't looking. Her heart heavy, Agate took one last look at her friends before beginning her dangerous journey back to the ice realm.
