Tulio was born in the Shifting Expanse, the child of a healer and a gatherer. One night, during a celebration of a good harvest, the fields were accidentally set aflame, destroying the last year of work. Nothing was left, even their meager belongings were burned. The family traveled to the Ashfall Waste where his father found work in the mines. Five years passed there, until his father died in a mine collapse and Tulio's mother died of grief.


Tulio almost died too, for he wandered over to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, almost drowning when he threw himself off a cliff. Durion saved him, giving him an offer to join the Anaey Clan. The skydancer accepted, becoming a part of the steadily growing clan.
