The Simple Florist

For someone whose craft requires an incredible amount of patience, it might come as a surprise to those unaccustomed to Ollyn that her temper can be as short as the stalks which she trims her blossoms to. While it is true that she can be strikingly kind, those who know her are acutely aware of her temper when it comes to reckless younger dragons, especially hatchlings, who she cannot even tolerate. She does see the beauty in everything, finding value in even the smallest life, it does not mean she is receptive to all of it, and if she is not, those around her are keen to know as soon as the opinion falls across her mind, though her sometimes wicked temperament bellies a passive nature - and in all cases, her bark is most certainly worse than her bite.

Born in the frozen wastes of the Southern Icefield, Ollyn knew that she never quite belonged. While her siblings enjoyed nothing more than skating on frozen rivers and burrowing in the snow, she sought something more... lively, a place which might be warmer and kinder, where instead of freezing, she might create and grow a fragile life. Soon after she matured, a traveler from the Sunbeam ruins, with the promise of light and salvation on the wings of the Lightweaver, and craving something greater than her icy home - she left early the next morning, without a spared glance at her homeland.

Here, she discovered her love for the sun, a sky clear and bright instead of grey and full of flurries and ice, and her deep affection and skill when it came to raising plant life. Soon she had become a florist among the Lightweaver's harem, but it was not the only thing which she grew here. The very dragon which had brought her to the light realm was the one which stole her heart, the one whom she raised her first clutch with, and yet, when the beast clans rose from the ashes of their shattered civilization and the great deity of light called for saviors, he was among the first to volunteer, claiming he had always belonged with his goddess. Turning a blind eye to his mate and second clutch, he vanished at the Lightweaver's side, and this was where Ollyn's cruel resentment began.

Leaving the ruins - as well as her children - with a mangled heart, she wandered aimlessly, tending to plantlife as she want, a rogue for a time until a kindly lightning dragon spotted her on the outskirts of the Shifting Expanse, asking politely if she would like to come with him, only to be cruelly turned away. To this day she claims that she is part of no clan, though as time has gone by, she has come closer to the lair, intrigued by the energy she gets from the sparks at her feet and the life she feels in the pure, vibrating energy around her.
