Hyperion

Second only to Theia, Hyperion is a strong and powerful example of his species. He craves battle and the thrill of the hunt, but above all he finds joy in watching his own hatchlings grow into their roles as Guardians.

Hyperion believes that each dragon has their own path, and must carry it out, regardless of what their peers may think. This mindset allowed him to accept his daughter Yamuna's decision of Exaltion gracefully, while his mate Theia was more than a little upset. It is this same mindset that puts him at odds with his son Shani, who has yet to set off on his own journey to find his ward. When Shani instead chose to become a Ridgeback, Hyperion grudgingly accepted this as his son's journey.

His own ward is the dwarf unicorn Phota, a shy young creature who Hyperion stumbled upon himself. Phota has little magic, but plenty of guile, most of which is spent cajoling Hyperion into various tasks that she deems appropriate. Being the first of the familiars to join the Clan, Phota tends to be their spokesperson when addressing Theia or Hyperion.

After much consideration and debating with his mate, Hyperion followed his son's actions and changed his own breed to a Ridgeback. Invigorated with his new lease on life, Hyperion has remained very much a leader of his clan.

While his breed may have changed, his temperament has not, and he continues to view Phota as his ward and protect her. Phota herself was intrigued by his change in size and shape, and remains as loving to him as ever.

Always loyal of Theia's authority, Hyperion is the action to her conviction. He makes her word law for the Clan, but privately he and Theia share a mutual respect and often discuss decisions that would impact the Clan. While it is not exactly love that binds them together, they do share a sort of affection for each other, and both look forward to the nests they may make in the future.
