What is the color of the night?

Her mind is set long ago, or maybe far into the future, but either way her mind is not entirely here. In her world, there are more than just dragons ruling the land. There are beings that walk on two legs, with soft flesh void of scales or thick fur, fingertips lacking claws, backs without wings, and tongues that speak in words dragons cannot fathom. The dragons are, for lack of a better term, mistaken as dangers to these beings. They are hunted down with swords, shields, and magic. Sometimes, she will watch as a brave brethren dives down upon one of the prey, only to be slain and then devoured before her. She strays away from them, taking refuge in a burnt-out sanctuary she discovered while heavy with a clutch of three. Her fascination with the half-burned tomes and other bits left over in the cave grew into obsession...
