Biography
Mandolin
A small lute with a fretted neck, and paired strings played with a plectrum.
Born from the first egg ever found by the Windswept Chorus, Mandolin is a young dragon with boundless optimism. Soprani has taken him under her wing and is raising him alongside Adagio. They both are very proud of their adopted son.
Mandolin has formed a very strong friendship with Treble. The two of them are know to get into some trouble, because of an over abundance of curiosity.
As he grew, the clan came to realize that there seemed to be something very different about the little spiral.
He was always doodling maps, but their detail went far beyond a talent. They were accurate to an insane degree.
Then one day Addagio saw one of the maps change all on its own, readjusting itself to reflect a change in geography brought on by a landslide.
Mandolin had to reveal himself in truth then. Not as a lost wind egg, but as the minor deity of maps and patron of exploration. He who maps out all known lands, constantly pushing the exploration of the blank edges of the map, appearing to lost travelers to point them the right way home.
Cartographers will draw little pictures of him along the edges of their maps to invoke his blessing and ensure their accuracy, and travelers will sometimes wear small pendants shaped like him to help keep them from getting lost (these are also often given to young hatchlings prone to wandering).
Still, he is most likely to appear as a simple, common dragon, usually somewhere along a roadside.
And he still favors the WindSwept Chorus with his presence often. After all, Soprani and Adagio will always be "Ma and Pop"!
