The Hunting Serpent
This is all going wrong Basecamp: Seaside Lair Bitis has spent the past while away from the clan, having run off when the rumors of a Shade cult on a nearby island sent the clan into high alert. Seers have glimpsed her in combat with a mysterious foe, but no details have been forthcoming. |

Hunter; Messenger; Merchant; Scout Elemental Nature Bitis is of Lightning, but until recently she was much more of a desert creature than a storm one, showing her element mainly in habitat preference. Since her departure, she has shifted dramatically, flashing in brilliant neon colors and crackling with electricity. It remains to be seen if the changes will remain when this is over. Physical description Bitis has a short and muscular body, and very long wings for her size. Despite this, she has historically been much less aerial than Northslope's other nocturnes, tending more to throw them back and slither or toboggan along the ground. Recently she seems to have been taking more to the air, perhaps due to the pressures of combat. Her usual coloration is dull and snakelike, with dry scales and scutes, but this is invisible currently under the flashing lights and colors. |

Origin Bitis was born in a small Lightning clan she barely remembers, and sent to Northslope as part of a deal as a hatchling. She was somehow waylaid on her way here, however, and spent several seasons on an island off the coast of the Expanse, imitating snakes. When she finally arrived at Northslope, she spent several more seasons poorly adjusted to society and mainly hunting, but as she adapted, trained as a messenger. When news of the cult on a nearby island reached her, Bitis took off. Aside from glimpses by the seers, no one has seen Bitis since. |

Kin Bitis is the daughter of two nocturnes brought forth in the first Night of the Nocturne, and so her ancestry beyond her parents is unknown. As she barely remembers her hatching-clan, so too are her parents only distant memories. She does not know any of her siblings. Bitis has had one nest of her own, while on a trip to the Wandering Contagion, of which her daughter Coragyps remains in Northslope clan. |
