Like his parents and clutchmates, Birchborn chose a sacred duty. He took on the Behemoth's Burden, becoming joined with a specially-grown, magically-imbued tree. Of course, this has certain benefits. He is extremely strong, hard to injure and easy to heal. An impeccable guard--the task for which the Burden's bearers were designed--he can spend days at a stretch standing in one place without needing food or sleep, living off the light of the sun. It also means that, barring disaster, he will live even longer than most healthy dragons.

Birchborn has taken to the Burden with a grace unusual even for Nature dragons. He slips into guard stance almost as though meditating, comfortably standing motionless for days at a time, wriggling his claws into the soil and communing with the forest around him. Sometimes weeks go by without his eyes opening; when guarding, they're not necessary, as he can see and feel through the life of the Labyrinth.

Of course, this means he has little time for the typical dragon pursuits... but he believes that that simply means he's even better at his task. And as he seems to be happy, his clanmates are loath to interrupt. 		Nature Runestone Barkback Root Sharpened Deadwood Branch Birch Logs
