Like Gabriel, Katherine was not always a dragon. Like him, she was reborn in Sornieth as a Skydancer. Unlike him, she was not a member of the secret, dying race that Gabriel ruled. She was a human, and a hunter.

It was Katherine’s duty and life to hunt down members of Gabriel’s race. But instead of catching a few worker bees here and there, Katherine stumbled into the hive. Now she had the king bee in her sights. But gaining Gabriel’s trust had an unexpected consequence: she grew to trust him, too.

Now, as a dragon, Katherine realizes that love is not bound by species, age, or any outward features. It spans across worlds and is deeper than the romantic feeling that young dragons call “love.” It forgives past wrongs, accepts flaws, and desires only the best for another, whether they are lover, friend, parent, offspring, or even enemy. Katherine is now free to express that definition of love and lives happily with Gabriel and the rest of the clan. They both help with the clan’s hunting and defense, and they both enjoy curling up with a good book in front of the fire pits dug throughout the clan’s caverns.
