The soft-spoken mate of Anansi, Yemaya hails from a since dissolved Water clan and left with Anansi upon foreseeing the eventual destruction of her clan and potential in the Spiral dragon. It is she who brought out his formidable ability with clairvoyance, now even more powerful than her own - perhaps because, now that she has a home, she doesn't care to practice it.

While she would describe herself as calm and adaptable, others might call her lazy. She works little compared to the rest of the clan, instead preferring to luxuriate in the cool underground springs of her home. She drapes herself in treasures brought in by tides from the sea and has little play in the politics of Gloomshiver. She simply advises Anansi to follow his heart, much to his ever-present amusement.

She is the mate of Anansi, and something of a rival to Saphir.
