~~~ Eccentric | Outdoorsy | Intellectual Profession: A scholar and diehard studier, Varisa prefers to do her knowledge gathering up close and in person. According to her it was a legend she read in a book with her birth clan that turned her wide-eyed curiosity to the Southern Icefields. She is convinced there is some mystery to be uncovered here and unquestioningly risks life and limb to uncover it for herself. Backstory: Varisa came to the Patroni clan a much simpler dragon with an absolute fascination with the Southern Icefields. Her intellectual drive and talent is shadowed only by an almost complete lack of common sense. Her studies and experiments are incredibly valuable to the clan; she has uncovered several fascinating secrets about the land in which they live, but her curiosity and unquenchable thirst for knowledge frequently makes her a hazard to herself in this harsh place. She came to possess the iridescent, shimmer and gembond genes during her time with the Patroni, and while these genes are usually revered as blessings from the clan's gods, in fact she acquired them by accident in an experiment gone wrong. An experiment she happened to be conducting in the middle of a particularly harsh blizzard. Still, she was named 'Kissed-by-Ice' because of how her colors suddenly reflected those of their deities and the clan learned that they must keep a constant eye on her. |

Varisa was one of those early dragons I bought when I was just starting here on Flight Rising. I remember at the time I was very interested in finding white or snow-themed tundras, feeling quite dedicated to my choosing of the Ice flight and hoping I could fill my lair with dragons that would look right at home with my progen, Irinim. When I found her, she was just a cheap hatchling: exalt fodder.
For a long time I considered exalting her. I wasn't (and as a general rule still am not) a fan of irishim on white, but I recognized the value of the genes she had and remained convinced that purple tint in the shadow shimmer fit so well with her arcane eyes. Not to mention how much that white gembond looked like chunks of snow--I just couldn't part with her.
She remained unnamed for nearly four months, long after I birthed the idea of making an eccentric scientist character of her for my clan's lore and found her the perfect companion for her element. What finally tipped the scales into making her an envoy was my search for a dragon that exhibited more of arcane's colors. The bottom line was I couldn't stand all the pink!
For a while longer I remained adamant that I would eventually find a better themed arcane tundra to be my envoy, but there she remained, sitting in my lair, at the time also the only female candidate for my envoys, and on July 22 I finally caved, named her, and officially welcomed her to the records of envoy for my clan lore.
