Biography
Reef is a sociable, playful Imperial whom lives in a nearby lake. He sleeps among the coral made up of a special species of freshwater polyps from his homeland in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and as he swims around in the lake, he is accompanied by various fishy companions, not to mention his ever-beloved Hippocampus. It only takes a slight disturbance of the surface for him to know if someone else is in the lake- and he is quick to investigate, and greet, whoever has entered the waters. He is highly devoted to worshiping the Tidelord, although he seems to hold respect for the Gladekeeper as well.
Yearly, when the Wavecrest Saturnalia comes around, Reef leaves Flowerfern to make a pilgrimage to the Sea of a Thousand Currents, gathering an offering of Olympia Oysters, and bringing them as close to the Spiral Keep as he can bear, before making his way home; this often taking him the whole course of the holiday - or even longer if he is unlucky. Often, he may come home with a new sample of wildlife - preserved in a water bubble- to add to his lake.
When asked about these pilgrimages he takes, he simply says that his old clan believed that the Tidelord sometimes spends so long down there, bellowing and moaning his prophecies out to those who will hear, that he never has time to gather food for himself. And so, they would gather Olympia Oysters during Wavecrest Saturnalia, since they were said to be the food of the gods, and bring them as close to the Spiral Keep as they could, so that the Tidelord wouldn't have to go far for food. It was believed that the closer a dragon could get during this pilgrimage, the better their future would look to be in the prophecies spoken by the Tidelord.
In Flowerfern, though Reef balks at the idea of eating any of his fishy friends, he instead has an underwater garden that he maintains; the plants often contributing to their foodstores, and Petalwing's medicinal stores. He, additionally, as a talented water mage, is oftentimes seen teaching young hatchlings spells, or telling fortunes for the fun of it.
