Biography

Born of fire and candlelight, a tiny female hatched into this world curious. Dazed from the efforts of hatching herself she lay on her back to play with her feet and look out at her new world. Her mother Ashera cradled her. She lay staring up at her mother's beautiful crystal hide. As dawn broke over the crest of the nest, the light caught her mother's hide in a beautiful display of fire and light. Right then and there Ashera knew her daughter would be named for all that beauty and power. Her name would be Firelight.
While in her mother's care Firelight grew big and strong. She took to the clouds above the Blacksand Annex that was their home. Following her mother's flight patterns and learning to fish. As she landed in the lair with her tiny feet, she could tell something was going to change soon. It was night time on the fifth day, and her father Midas came back from fishing with a large selection of tasty treats. Firelight ate her fill, and curled up between her parents for the night.
When she woke, the world looked strangely different. Smaller in fact. She didn't want to wake her parents so she quietly slipped to the edge of the lava pool. Looking down she saw her mother...but wait...that wasn't right!?!? She slipped her forked tongue out, and so did the dragon in the pool. She winked her fire eyes, one at a time, and so did the dragon in the pool. Well this is just strange she thought. She left the pool and returned to the pile of sea creatures her father had brought the night before. As she reached out, she noticed her beautiful long glowing talons. This was much too different! She reared up on her haunches and inspected herself. Long crystalline front legs, strong powerful back legs, ever reaching long feathered wings.... She thought to herself, I grew up! Without a sound she went back to the pool, and stuck her tongue out, so did the reflection. I look like my mother she thought.
With melodic trills of joy she woke her mother and father. With sleepy eyes they watched their daughter rear back on her hind legs, stretch out her wings and let out a melodic yet fierce trill. Just as that happened the dawn came at her back. The new sun caught her wings and hide. Little flames seemed to engulf the whole lair. Other dragons that had been sleeping woke to this sight in awe. Firelight was the pride and joy of Kasaiku's lair. The dragons in the lair gave a sounding call of approval.
The joy was not to last though... Firelight being an alpha female now could not stay at her home lair, she had a desire to lead her own lair. The pull to leave eventually became too much, and she was allowed to leave. The lair that chose her already had a fine Progen Coatl named Irongrace as its alpha female. However, Riversgrace was convinced that the two would become amazing friends, and lead the lair together.
Every morning Firelight and Irongrace wake up before anyone in the lair and go to the edge of their lava pool and sing. Most other breeds find Coatl voices annoying and irritating. The two have found notes that the other dragons love and created a unique dawning song of their own. And as the dawn rises Firelight spreads her wings and the world is set ablaze.
