Anubis

bio stuff goes here

ideas from Turtlekit:
"As for Anubis, he looks like a reckless type to me? I tend to associate the steampunk apparel with recklessness. Maybe he's a younger dragon who likes to undertake dangerous adventures for fun? Oh, he could be an Indiana Jones-type archaeologist!"

ideas from Velvetpaws:
"- He gives me the impression of being very clinical, somewhat emotionally detached--very scientific in his methods of gathering data and processing it, but somehow he arrives at conclusions that are just way out there. (He's that guy who would look at an image in an ancient temple and see a light bulb.) He defends these conclusions by outlining an elaborate series of connections that have great internal logic but are completely founded on one of those inexplicable brain leaps. (Would he become angry and impassioned when people pick apart his reasoning, or would he remain cool and deadpan throughout?)

- Has an encyclopedic knowledge of archaeological dig sites and discoveries. Reads multiple ancient languages. Subscribes to all the journals and writes letters to them responding to their articles.

- Has a love/hate (or like/dislike, depending on just how dispassionate he really is) relationship with technology--he wants to use all the latest methods to study his sites but usually finds some way in which they threaten the integrity of the findings (for instance, image scanners that--at least in his mind--degrade the quality of the ancient pigments). This might be because he tends to hook up with really fringe inventors whose devices have a tendency to short out, beam gamma rays all over the place, or catch on fire.

- Is he looking for a specific thing (a lost civilization, a tomb, a source of immortality, a path to godhood), or is he just obsessed with gathering information and creating this giant web of connections among his various discoveries? Since he's come from Light to Nature, maybe he's looking for a lost temple in the jungle. The secret lore of the primeval wildclaws?

- Egyptian themes that come to mind: Pyramid symbols. Crocodile gods. The fiery power of the Eye of Ra. What exactly does an ankh represent (not the meaning of it, but the thing that the hieroglyph is actually based on)? The journey of the dead from the tomb through the underworld to judgment and then to the eternal Field of Reeds. The cycle of the yearly inundation of the Nile. The god Anubis himself in his role of guide of the dead and balancer of the scales."

some of my ideas:
-has his own old-school biplane. if he didn't build it himself originally, he's fixed it enough times that he's probably built the whole thing over time.
-likes going to dangerous places and having adventures
-very chaotic, probably steals things a lot and always ignores regulations. ends up running from law enforcement, etc. a lot of the time.
-Has a few specific things he's looking for, but is always eager to go on "side quests" and just go after random interesting-sounding things he hears about.
-knows all the details about ancient civilizations including their manners, but can't manage to act polite in a modern civilization. Always sarcastic, does little "rude" things all the time (not ride as in mean, just totally oblivious to etiquette stuff. But can also charm his way out of trouble if needed). Also bad at remembering facts about today's civilization, like recent news or gossip or anything.
-he takes all his notes in languages and alphabets that nobody else knows (not because he's paranoid about other people reading them, but just because he can. and it does come in handy if anyone ever tries to spy on him or his notes.)
-if he gets a girlfriend she might be a pilot.
