Darkfall

Darkfall Reading-Shadows, with his near-identical brother Eventide Rending-Darkness, are the formidable and fearsome guards of Persisting Shadow. Ferocious in battle, predators of graceful skill and tireless diggers, the brothers Dark are inseparable, patrolling the clan's territorial boundaries as needed, fishing and digging together, sometimes in packs with their older sister Plaguemoggie and other clanmates, but usually as a pair. Their near psychic-seeming connection and teamwork make them consistently some of the most effective fishing-dragons of their clan, and their deeds are often praised and sung of over tasty banquets of seafood.

Darkfall's mother is a talented Haruspex, and her son seems to have inherited at least a trace of the gift. While far from reliable, he can sometimes learn useful things from examining entrails. When they were little hatchlings, Eventide began bringing his brother small fish to disembowel, a practice he humbly continues by offering Darkfall choice of any prey he catches. Darkfall's typically quiet, studious, serious demeanor hides a clever dragon with a somewhat wicked sense of humor. He plays pranks with fish guts just infrequently enough to keep his friends unwary.

The brothers Dark happened to be brought up with another pair of Plague-born siblings, the Imperials Foxfire and Foxtrot; Moss Shadow-of-Trees, whose duty it is to educate the clan's hatchlings, claims that the four of them were the worst and most troublesome he has been given to date. The four occasionally still do find their way into misadventure, at least when the brothers Dark are not patrolling or fishing, a duty they never take lightly. While Foxfire has grown into an upstanding specimen of a Shadow dragon, her brother Foxtrot has proven likely to find himself in real trouble well past the age young dragonets might be forgiven some indiscretions. Darkfall and Eventide are charged with keeping an eye on him, and keeping him inside Persisting Shadow territory as they keep any undesirable presences out.
