Biography
Hinoki doesn’t like to talk about his past. When asked, he just laughs and shakes his soft mane, but never tells anything. He was born on Starfall Isles, that much is clear – and he’s a caster, which is rare among the imperials, and the strongest healer of the clan. He also has scars – not many of them, all on his hind legs, they seem a bit weird because of that… but Hinoki doesn’t tell this story, either.
Saar knows something. But Saar usually talks even less, so prying anything from him is just as useless. Most don’t even try.
When he brings home a beaten, bloody young guardian clearly touched by Shadow madness, Saar only looks at Hinoki closely and asks:
“You sure?”
Hinoki laughs softly – and nods.
“I am.”
Saar just shrugs… and walks away. And Gwyrrd stays in the clan.
Sometimes the madness still takes over him, and he snarles and tries to crush the walls of the lair… but when it happens, Hinoki darts to him, weaves his long lithe body around Gwyrrd and starts murmuring soft words in some unknown language – and the madness retreats.
“We just need a good anchor” laughs Heder, purple eyes twinkling. “A good, big, heavy anchor to keep us here, you know? So that when we’re called we know where to come back! Like me and my beautiful Derdre, she’s a good anchor, oooh, she is!”
“…big and heavy?” smiles Derdre.
“Nuuuuh!..”
Hinoki hums in agreement and nuzzles at Gwyrrd’s scarred neck absentmindedly.
“Nuh-uh, not where the children can see, Hino!” warns him Derdre.
Hinoki chuckles and goes out obediently, and Gwyrrd follows him. The smaller, younger guardian catches up to the enormous imperial and bites the long neck playfully; Hinoki purrs like a coatl and licks him on the face, right over the dark markings, then once again, placing heavy paw at his chest pinning Gwyrrd to the ground and making him hiss, loudly and obscenely.
“CHILDREN!”
Hinoki throws his head back and laughs, and then runs, surprisingly fast and graceful for such a large body; Gwyrrd roars and darts after him, ground trembling under the heavy leaps.
“They are good together, aren’t they” murmurs Heder, coiling around his mate’s neck. “Though I wouldn’t mind watching, you know, it’s inappropriate but beautiful and also very, very hot – I mean, you know, last time I stumbled upon them and Hinoki was pinning Gwyrrd just like now but Gwyrrd was…”
“Heder.”
“…I’ll go and watch the nest?..”
“You’ll go and watch the nest.”
“Yes, maam.”
