Quell was born in the plains of light to parents who belonged to the Ice clan. A natural at sorcery, once she reached maturity she took to wandering, learning pieces of magic from a dozen different teachers along the way.Clever : Brave : Mystical While she searched for rare and powerful ingredients in the Tangled Wood she came across a strange creature: a Dracowolf. A dragon by day and half-crazed wolf by night, the creature hunted Quell across the night, until finally she had no choice but to fight the poor creature. She was triumphant- but not before sustaining a bite to one flank. That night she transformed, barely keeping her wits for long enough to lock herself in somewhere secure. When dawn found her she was inches from escaping, and she vowed to never lose control again. She found a cure- not for the transformation, but from the mindlessness that came with it. Now she was quite content to turn into a huge black wolf at night. She was always warm, in any case. Other clans were not so forgiving. They feared she would lose control and fight them, or that she were infectious to them. Dismayed, she wandered until many months later on a fateful dark night she heard a familiar howl- another Dracowolf! Fearing for the safety of those around it, she galloped towards it with all the speed she could muster. She came upon the Wolf in a clearing in the Viridian Labyrinth, a graceful creature of gold and copper. Warily she watched the wolf, who seemed to not yet be aware of her, unsure of what to do- and then behind it she spied three hatchlings. What they were doing in the forest at night with a Dracowolf she could not comprehend, but she knew she must draw the creature away and allow them to get to safety, even if it cost her her life. To her surprise, however, no matter how she darted in and away, nipping the golden creatures flanks, it stood fast. Finally she realized- it was protecting the hatchlings! She backed away and spoke, and the creature returned her greetings, and it was thus she discovered the Tabura Clan, who had a small group of wolves already living with them- Tulip (one of the wolves) had found the same remedy to the madness that Quell had. They- and the whole clan- welcomed Quell and she made her home with them, glad to finally have a place to call her own. |
