Petro, being the only Snapper in the clan, would seem like a logical choice to be the clan's historian, with the reputation of Snappers being living encyclopedias. The only reason that Petro hasn't taken that role is because he's almost never around when you need him. Forever wandering, just plodding along, Petro is seen in the lair only once or twice a week. Instead, he was named the clan's representative of the Earth flight, a title that he bears with pride.

Unknown to all others in the clan, his relentless wanderings often take him beyond the Scarred Wasteland and into the Windswept Plateau, where he hopes to meet his long-time love Quartz once more, although thusfar he has only encountered her a scant handful of times. He is content to know that she is happy in her clan, but at the same time longs to be at her side.

Petro's wisdom is seemingly boundless, and often he will take a hatchling with him on one of his aimless trips, taking the time to explain to the child the vast history of both the clan and the land in which they have made their home. He tells them of the clan's humble beginnings in the shallows of the Sea of a Thousand Currents, and recounts the grand migration to where they live now, the crossing of the Abiding Boneyard and finally settling in the Rotrock Rim, awaiting the day when they can finally venture to the lip of the Wyrmwound and the final trek to actually get there. All of this is knowledge that Petro sees as his duty to pass down to the hatchlings in excruciating detail, even if he technically isn't the historian of the clan.
