Deep in the Leviathan Trench, the remains of an ancient ship once rested. The hull had been punched through many times, with corals and sea ferns growing from the wreckage. Small fish darted in and out of the many chambers and pods of Maren or Golden Porpoises were known to cavort amongst the currents.

A small Guardian lived within this ship, keeping watch over the boat and the creatures that called it home. The ship was her charge, and she had left her home clan to protect it from the dangers of the ocean. It was calm and peaceful there, on the bottom of the ocean floor. Occasionally a beam of sunlight would pierce the murky depths, and the dragon felt it's soft green light shine on her face. The Maren brought her news of life on the surface above, and she felt no need to leave her home. She was content.

One day, she and a few porpoises were gathered around a steam vent, scooping up handfuls of the tiny shrimps that flocked to the warmth. There was a gurgling sound within the vent, and the bubbling column gave a great belch. The water was instantly filled with a sulfurous stench. Beneath her feet, the seabed began to quake. Within the vent she could see an orange glow that was swiftly growing brighter and brighter. Then, it erupted.

All around was chaos. The vents were bursting wide, spewing hot, molten rock into the air. The Guardian fled, trying to make it back to her ship. As she leapt over one of the bubbling pits it too gave a hiss, then exploded, carrying her upwards in a rush of superheated water. She struggled to escape the geyser, but it was too strong for her small frame. In the distance, she could see her ship. The sand below it was glowing an angry red, and she could only watch helplessly as it too erupted. Fish fled in every direction as the lava burst through the fragile, waterlogged wood, smashing it to bits. The Guardian tried to scream, but no sound could be heard over the roar in the water. After that, she remembered nothing.

Sometime later she awoke to a gentle nudging. Another Guardian stood over her, white and red, strange colors to her water-adjusted eyes. He looked at her with some concern. She tried to stand and found herself wrapped in an ancient fishing net, shells clinging to her. Her ship, her charge was gone, destroyed. Why then did she still feel it's pull? Down the beach a ways, she saw something protruding from the sand. As she staggered towards it, she recognized a sliver of wood from her ship. Mournfully, she tucked the sliver into her fishnet cloak.

The Guardian Zetsumii led her through the Shadow lands to a place of peace and rest. She would be safe in the Sanatorium, he promised, and could recover from the loss of her charge. She remains there to this day, cradling the piece of her lost life, listening for the sound of pounding waves.

TinyLady came back to the shore after she healed some to check the wreckage of her ship. This lonely scavenger was the only trace she could find of the colonies of bright tropical fish who once lived there.
