"They call me Hugger," she'll say, and if you ask why, or ask if that's her real name, or even if you laugh, she'll give you a demonstration.

She's earned the name. Her hugs are warm, comforting, very soft and fluffy and distinctly vanilla-scented. She's exactly the kind of Tundra grandma who will knit you a sweater out of her own fur; she knits a half-dozen ever year.

Though she doesn't just use her own fur. She's a skilled pelt barber, and when it gets too hot she stands ready to clip the fur of every Tundra and Gaoler within a three-clan radius, provided they don't care what she does with the clippings. She's an old lady, not nearly as dextrous as she once was, and you might want to ask someone a bit younger to shave exciting patterns into your fur or give you a very precise mane-style, but she can give you a good, utilitarian cut so you don't get heatstroke, and isn't that the most important thing?
