Theirs will be the strength to endure, not only when victory lies within easy reach, but even when it seems unattainable and doom settles like a shroud all about. In those times of darkness, my noble sons will hold fast their station and no evil shall escape their jaws." — Attributed to the Mother Horus was one of the first sons that the IceWarden crafted to guard and populate Her Fortress. He fought many battles against Horrors at the head of a Seeker pack known as the Einherjar. He and his brothers dragged Home the mangled bodies of their quarry to join the rest beneath ice and snow in the IceWarden's prison. His right to lead was challenged but never bested. He would maintain the title of Alpha until the day that the Mother called him to a different task. Later on in his career Horus was met with a creature that matched his ferocity and passion on the battlefield. He hunted it for days as it burned away the land and the living caught in its blazing path. Many of his brothers that ran beside him were lost to its terrible claws and burning breath. He too suffered grievous wounds, but refused give up the Hunt. When he finally trapped the beast and brought it out of the sky he only had two brothers beside him to finish the job. The battle was bloody, and when it finally cried its last hatful shriek of defiance Horus labored two long weeks to drag it Home to the Mother. When he finally laid it on the altar for judgment he announced that no one else could be trusted to guard the Burning Beast but him. This was his final and most devastating catch, and he would not return to the field of duty without personally knowing that it was still wrapped in chains and trapped inescapably inside of a block of ice. The IceWarden herself answered his demand and granted him the title Overseer, but admonished that this would not be his final duty. Someone else would some day take his place to guard the Beast, for She had other plans for her son. This was the founding of IceFallen. Once Horus took up his post as Overseer, they would recruit other Gaolers to rebuild their numbers. The two brother founded the IceFallen Seeker Order and Keeper Order respectively. Horus guarded the Burning Beast for several hundreds of years. From his post he had command of hundreds of Gaoler dragons that would come and go in the name of duty under the Clan of IceFallen. The Modern breeds would begin to make their first appearances just before he was called upon by the Mother.
"You are my son, and together with your brothers have all but conquered the Shade. Now the time has come for peace. My work is done and now passes to you for I have greater tasks to perform in my sanctum. I name you Sentinel and from this day forth all of my armies and generals shall take orders from you as if the words came from my own mouth. But heed these words of caution I have for you: your brothers are strong of will, of thought and of action. Do not seek to change them, but use their particular strengths well. You have much work to do for there are still many horrors to incarcerate, many lands to cleanse of evil, and still more to keep locked away. My trust is with you."
— The IceWarden • P E R S O N A L I T Y • He speaks with rough vowels and a particular hard palatal edge that make him sounds feral and harsh. Horus is dedicated to his station as he has always been since the IceWarden brought him into the World. He, like many of his ancient brothers, is an enigma that cannot be easily accessed by his younger brethren. When he has made an appearance, albiet rare, it has always been to deliver the IceWarden's Will to its intended audience. He remains detached from personal relationships to most other dragons, however his passion for the Hunt can be roused should he feel inclined to retell his own experiences. He holds a deep hatred for fire, and especially the Burning Beast itself.
• C U R R E N T L Y •
Horus remains inside of the Fortress of Ends guarding the IceWarden's Pillar segment. He has not been seen for centuries. His name is legend.
• C O M B A T || A B I L I T I E S •
One of the skills that made Horus such a great leader was that he possessed an innate understanding of his fellow dragons; he was able to read them in such a way that he could choose to promote their strengths or exploit their weaknesses. This allowed him to find a non-combat solution in several campaigns as he used his silvered charisma and diplomatic negotiation skills to settle conflicts with beast clans or other dragon clans without bloodshed. If this approach was not suitable, Horus had the support of his pack and god-like strength of his own to contend with the most powerful Beasts and diabolical Horrors.
