This fallen knight has training he doesn't remember getting, friends he can't remember meeting and a purpose he can't remember failing. Hatched from an abandoned egg in the earliest days of Ihsan's leadership, he had always wanted to find out more of his heritage while honing his martial prowess. Believing that having a liege would make him a true knight, Ceru announced that a Spiral mage would be the one he'd vow to protect once his training was complete. Even when Vulriik, Ihsan's most trusted warrior, left and Ceru took his place on the front lines, he remained true to this purpose. Ihsan made it very clear to him that he couldn't and would never replace the friend she had lost, but eager to prove himself Ceru persevered. Then came the tragedy that was the Great Plague. First to fall was Pristro, Ceru's mentor and a dragon he had fought alongside countless times before. He had thought the Skydancer untouchable, a pinnacle of skill. As if that weren't bad enough, only hours later his liege fell ill and was dead by dawn the next day. When Ihsan began the hurried evacuation to save who she could, Ceru followed until he too fell victim to this disease, dying quietly on the border of the Scarred Wasteland. All these things are lost to Ceru now, the time he spent in the barren realm of the dead robbing him of his memories of life. His return too is hazy at best, but some half-remembered loyalty drove him back to the Sea of a Thousand Currents. There he waited, until Ihsan and those few survivors returned. She was overjoyed to see him again, but he didn't even know who she was. Such has been his life since then, even after the Order found its permanent home in the Cairnstone Rest. |
