Quiet | Serious | Responsible

At A Glance

Some say it was fate that led this egg to the Gladewalker clan, others say that the Seer or the Queen herself divined it. Whatever the truth, from this little egg would hatch a prince, duty-bound and loyal to those who took him in and raised him together. Clearly so infused with his element, great things were expected of the little hatchling, despite his quiet and oft times dour demeanor. From the moment he first crawled from his egg, the queen took him under her wing, seeing a spark of something familiar within him, something that spoke to her soul and drew out her affection. He would be her heir, he would bear the same responsibilities and burdens that she now did because within him was potential.

Sentinel's upbringing was one of constant learning, whether it was the Sages who told their hundreds of stories or his mother who taught him of the clan, it's purpose, it's core ideals or it's everyday minutia. He had grown fast, maturing well before any of his peers, and while it seemed he carried too many burdens at such a tender age, in truth he thrived under them. He eagerly took in all that those around him had to give and then looked for more. Sentinel wanted to carry the clan on his shoulders, he wanted to help and protect. He searched for more to do every day, whether it be governing his clanmates or simple, heavy lifting. The wildclaw earned an early reputation for himself: The humble Prince who lives and breathes for his clan. And humble he is, no task is too small, he offers a claw wherever needed and though he remains aloof and seemingly detached, his actions speak louder than his words ever could. So bound to his clan he has never once left it's borders, he rises and falls to the rhythm of clan life and has never searched elsewhere for purpose or reason.

_______________

As you walk down the gnarled branches of trees that form the Sylvanwood Palaces' hallways, you begin to feel peckish and you just hope you remember where the palace dining hall is located. You were given a tour of the palace by an all-too-energetic spiral who bounced around the palace only assuming you were following. It was such a blur you're not sure you can remember any specifics. Indeed you find yourself quite lost.

You keep turning down the winding branches getting yourself far more lost than you had been, granted the fact that all of the rooms and corridors are formed with trees and plants that look identical makes getting your bearings much more difficult. You're looking back and forth between two hallways trying to decide which one looks more familiar, when on your third turn glancing down the one on the right you suddenly see a dragon standing right next to you. You nearly jump out of your skin at his sudden and silent appearance.

He tilts his head and throws you a questioning look, but then asks in a soft, quiet, even tone, "May I assist you?"

You explain your ridiculous situation facetiously and expect him to laugh or even throw you a sympathetic look, but he doesn't react at all. Instead he simply blinks then turns and motions for you to follow him. "This way." He instructs calmly.

The trip to the dining hall is spent in silence and you feel slightly uncomfortable, but regardless you arrive at your destination. Your guiding wildclaw bows his head respectfully.

"Do let me know if you need further assistance." He offers before immediately striding off giving you no time to thank him or even ask his name.

You decide not to hold his curt behavior against him, after all, not everyone is social. Brushing the matter off you quickly find a seat among some other dragons who eagerly welcome you and you're served some of the palace's finest cuisine.

Later that day you return to the guest quarters and see a rather large box sitting at the entrance to your assigned room, these are the gifts and supplies that you requested from your own clan to offer as a token of respect to the queen of this clan. You attempt to lift the box and bring it into the room, but it's laden with far too many things and proves to be quite heavy. You try a couple more times, but it's no use.

You're just about to call to a passing dragon to ask for help when out of the corner of your eye you see another approach you. It's the same wildclaw as before and he doesn't say anything, or even look at you as he carefully and gently bites down on the sturdy leather strap secured around the crate and, with some effort, lifts it and carriers it into your room. He places it next to your bedding then turns to you, bows again, and leaves. You scratch your head as you watch him go, wondering just who that dragon is. Perhaps some sort of steward?

A couple of days later you're preparing to leave having concluded your business with the clan, but as you're packing your things you notice your backpack has a sizeable rip down the side. You huff in frustration knowing you'll have to get it seen to tomorrow. The next day you return to your room late in the afternoon, irritated with yourself for putting it off and not handing it off to the tailors in the morning like you planned, but when you pick the pack up, much to your surprise it has already been mended, a fresh and tidy seam up the side. You think you have an idea of who took care of it for you, even though you've still yet to learn his name.

As you leave the palace you turn to the spiral who's seeing you off and after he hands you a parting gift, a Gladekeeper doll and a stag figurine for swift travels, you spot the same mysterious dragon who had helped you during your visit, carrying what looks to be fresh kill into the palace, a few others flanking him with similar loads. You ask the friendly spiral who that dragon is.

"Oh that? That's Sentinel, prince to this clan!" The spiral beams happily.

You were not expecting that.
