Biography
"You are right, I could keep you alive. It would not deter me, but we have no need of prisoners, and that is what you are."
Blood of Valkyrie and Hellreek | Daughter of Skollyoth | The Second of the Offspring
Iarwen: Sindarin, 'Iar' and 'wen', meaning 'blood' and 'maiden' respectively.
"Daughter. I have a daughter." were the first words that Iarwen heard when her shell burst open. The Tundra hatchling reached up to whoever made the noise, her wings sticky with the mucus membrane, her legs sturdy and low.
Her coat was nothing like her parent's, a shining icy blue with stripes, but her wings- Skollyoth remembered her exalted sister, Druinaviges, and bent down to nuzzle her daughter with an affection that could not be mirrored. "Iarwen." she murmurs, naming this new addition to the world.
"She has your stomach." Xibalba notes, nosing her belly as well, examining her with a soft grunt.
"She has my sister's bearings." is what Skollyoth replies with, before licking the mucus clean off her daughter's wings.
Iarwen reminds her mother of her sister, who has long passed to the Tidelord's service. Sentiment be damned, Iarwen is pampered and raised to be the fearsome daughter that her mother has always wanted, to excel in battle, and to fight.
However, the Tundra is not too much like her mother- in the way that she radiates a deadly calm, which has earned her the title of the 'Eye of the Storm'. She kills in cold blood, without the shriek that her mother and father both give before launching the last killing blow. She is passive in battle, and it is impossible to read her when she wants to mask her emotions.
Iarwen is close to her sister and brother, and her other brothers, who have moved with their father back to Hellreek, and as the first-borne has moved back to Hellreek, she has assumed the position of the heir of the Valkyrie. She tries not to abuse this power.
But does so anyway.
