They do not know from whence they came – just that they are. They may be older than the gods themselves. They come to those with happiness and hope and break them. Until they are nothing but past shadows of themselves. They do not know why, just that they must. And they find pleasure in that. They have a voice, not one that speaks to ears, but one that speaks to minds. Anything that they say in this manner is obeyed no matter the order. Even the gentlest dragon would kill if told. For now, they stay on the outskirts of this clan, waiting for their chance to strike it down to ruin. |

When they were mortal they used to live in a kingdom that is now forgotten. They were always drawn to the dark arts, and necromancy in particular. They loved to toy with their powers and attempt to reanimate things to do their bidding. It would work, for awhile, but never as long as they wanted to. They wanted more. They wanted to be stronger, but how? They kept asking themselves. They poured over tome after tome, searching for ways to amplify their powers. None of them worked but they kept trying and trying. Until they found it. The answer they were so desperately searching for. They had to sever their sapience and become a lich. Then they will have true power, no mortality or morality getting in their way. |
A lich is born from death. And when they made the sacrifices necessary to become one, there was a lot more of it to follow.
The beginning of the end of the forgotten kingdom was a mysterious fog appearing from the sewers. Slowly collecting and building ever upwards until it consumed and corrupted the kingdom completely.
The kingdom was not the only thing forgotten that day. Seikyo also lost all of their memories of being a mortal. Now all that drives them is powerlust and a desire to torture and kill for amusement.
