ABOUT. Like most Ravaged dragons, Alke's condition makes it difficult for her to fly. Already the Earth/Plague disease has affected her wings, making them harden to a rock-like brittleness as her claws turn steadily more unresponsive. Most of the affliction's symptoms are kept at bay with a combination of magic and healing, thanks to Metis and Eidotheia, but it can only be delayed for so long. It is a life Alke is used to. This is the fate of a Ravaged. In addition to being affected by an incurable disease, Alke is also a bit of a mercenary and doesn't hesitate to flee from danger, not unlike most Ravaged dragons. Her Arcane nature, however, does disrupt the flow a little, giving her a bit more empathy and bravery than your average Ravaged dragon. She was hired by the clan's leaders when it became clear that the lair needed expanding and that the small digging team of Kithairon, Auxo and Alastor was insufficient. Along with Seien, her mate and a Ravaged slightly less affected by the disease, the two dig and excavate new territory for the clan. Her life still isn't entirely free from pain. There are nights when she wakes up gasping from another ache, days when she's collapsed in the middle of a dig, too wracked with pain to continue. The clan understands. Alke refuses to see these as her final moments. Even as the disease claims her wings and impedes her movement, she will continue to live as best and as brightly as she can. Seien is a big help, of course, for he shoulders her workload when she is forced to take the day off, and he often returns home almost too tired to talk. The guilt she feels at him bearing her burden is maddeningly unbearable, and sometimes Alke wishes she wasn't affected by the disease, if not for her short life, then for the sake of Seien. It is a doomed existence, she thinks, but, feeling the comforting weight of her mate next to her, she knows it is also a blessed one. IMPRESSIONS. PAST. RELATIONSHIPS. Seien: Mate.
