Morenic

It took Morenic two more days than her fraternal twin, Laurelin, to hatch. When the Wildclaw emerged from her egg and into the slime of the nest, she was not greeted by coos and smiles.

The first face to look at her contorted in horror.

Morenic hatched missing most of her face, her back legs, many ribs and wing bones, and most of her tail. They say it was a hazard of Lillianis breeding in her condition.

Many thought about putting the hatchling out of her misery, or keeping her warm and safe for however long she may live.


The father would not have this, however, and set to work. Using the scrap parts for upgrading his Steelhound, Gullion built Morenic all new parts. First ribs to accommodate the heavy breathing a hunter will do, then strong heavy legs, then a tail to balance on those legs.

Her faceplate was finished on her first birthday, and to celebrate, Morenic went on her first hunt.

The thrill of the chase, the feeling of wind in her feathers as her robotic legs carried her across the Scarred Wasteland in chase of a couple of rabbits... Morenic could never get enough of the feeling.

To this day she is the strongest and fastest of the hunters, and she revels in the strength her perfect pampered twin does not have.
