Erebos
Menagerie Manager
(most likely to be found napping in a pile of fluffy animals) -- Affinity : Ice / Light / Fire -- Mate: Hotaru ***** Erebos was somewhat of an enigma when he first joined the Bright Cosmos Clan. Dark scales, a bright red deepsea bulb sprouting between his eyes, vacant expression, almost completely silent, and a habit of covering himself in spikes — it took a while for the other dragons to decide what to make of him. Erebos joined the clan in its early days. He had been running with a pack of Mirrors when he was distracted by the sight of the large, Ice Imperial, Kurome, fishing in the Southern Icefields. She was the first Imperial he had ever met, so he was quite impressed with her size and how fast she could pull a fish out of the glacial waters. Since his clan had never particularly gone for fish, he snuck a bite and found it delicious, and then hurriedly tried to replace the catch. He fell into the water and was promptly yanked out by the stern-faced Imperial. After that, he stuck to her like glue, no matter where she went, up until arriving back at her home in the Sunbeam Ruins. The clan, somewhat small at the time, welcomed him despite not even knowing his name. However, one Wildclaw, Helios, was suspicious of him, especially as he found him sneaking about at night and often vanishing, after which he could be gone for several days. Helios would try to follow, but the shadowy-coloured Mirror was very, very fast. Suddenly, familiars began turning up in the clan’s lair. Everyone was pleased. Some dragons who hadn’t bonded with a familiar yet were glad to pick one out of the growing menagerie that Erebos seemed to be building out of nowhere. One night, Helios managed to find him and follow him out. He was surprised to find that Erebos would travel all over, into the woods, into other clan’s territories, even out over region borders. Scrounging around in bushes, rivers, treetops, caves, and a plethora of other hard-to-reach spots, he’d lure out animals of all shapes and sizes and, to Helios’s surprise, try to befriend them. If attacked, he’d cover his head and use the spiky armour he had strapped on like a turtle shell until whatever he had upset stopped smacking him. For every night that Erebos left the lair, he returned cradling some sort of animal or another. When Helios went to apologize for his suspicions, Erebos presented him with a Celestial Antelope as a peace offering before rolling around on the ground with several other fluffy familiars he had picked up that night. He finally introduced himself by name and the two became quick friends. Clan Matriarch Kodama was impressed with Erebos’s ability to get animals to trust him and gave him the duty of setting up the menagerie, keeping the bestiary updated, and feeding all the familiars. He gleefully accepted. Nowadays, one can most easily find him wherever the most animal noises are coming from. Erebos’s mate is an Ice Ridgeback named Hotaru. She misinterpreted him presenting her with a Hooded Dodo as a gesture of romance and began pursuing him wholeheartedly. At first he was uncertain, but she won him over and the two have been happily together ever since. Erebos’s favourite things are his Red-Breasted Hainu—whom he calls Rosebud—, running around in the woods as fast as he can, biting clan enemies really hard on the rump, gnawing on delicious fishes with Hotaru, being very cozy, and rolling around on the floor with as many animals as possible. |
