Grid
Lieutenant of Decay
"I will not tolerate nonbelievers and beast gods upon the lands of dragons."

Grid was born under the light of a red planet, the seer of the clan having visions of great accomplishments, strength and blood. More than any of his siblings, he was, for some reason, expected to bring glory to the clan, but on the other hand he was also expected to cause a lot of grief and bloodshed. Grid's parents were taken by the Plaguebringer when he was still young, and he was raised by the ones who foresaw his future. Grid was frightened by those visions, and he thought his foster parents were superstitious fools who only relied on the stars' and planets' movements to see the future. His foster parents weren't complete fools, though, and they let him pursue whatever he wanted, just for him to realise his being unfitting for anything but dreaming big. He didn't even feel manipulated when he decided to pursue the role of a plaguespreader. In Grid's case the stars and planets had been right in one thing. They had given him a chance to decide whether to suppress his inner desires of achieving great things, or to accept his role of a warrior for the Plaguebringer. He realised the other face of the coin, the part where in turn for glory there must also be a downfall, and in turn for great prosperity, somebody must live in poverty. With his real parents gone along with many of his siblings, he left his clan to realize his fate. Grid now fights for the honor of the Plaguebringer, helping keep the god's grasp upon its land and leaving camps of profanes painted in blood and decay. He gets into skirmishes with others in the Nightshade Clan for his insolence to worship The Foul One upon Her Lady Shadowbinder's soil... but after such a harrowing trial of ruin amidst his life, Grid appreciates the hospitality the wayward clan provides, and is slowly becoming more accustomed to the stilled, peaceful darkness. |
