Biography
Gale's Thoughts: Liana
One of my two best friends, and the first "found" member of the clan, Liana has contributed more to this place than just about anyone else.
Actually, I can't even say I was the one who found Liana; she found me. Before I met her, I didn't even think of going to the auction house to look for potential clan members. I'd only ever gone to buy outfits and supplies for what at the time was a clan of seven. But the market is full of dragons from all around; some sell their services, some offer life debts, some are sent as part of a rite of passage, some are looking for a new place to settle, and some like Blake just go to meet new clans and see the world (Blake fell in love and ended up staying, but that's hardly the point).
I'd only known one spiral before Liana approached me (and even now he deviates a bit from everyone else I know), so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. I was still a fairly new face to the public eye, and I probably stood out like a sore thumb; mirrors don't travel alone for the most part. There was a short pause where we just stared each other down awkwardly before she said,
"So you're the mirror from the cliff face in the ruins, right?"
The rest is history.
Liana is probably the most minimalist spiral I've ever met. She loves shiny things, but she doesn't really hoard anything or feel the need to adorn herself in fancy clothes (Xandra has tried to get her a new outfit to no avail). She has her jewelry, the necessities, and her Agol, who follows her everywhere, even into battle.
Liana would never seem like a fighter on first glance. And she's not, really, but in one of the first battles I ever participated in as clan leader, there was a lightning bolt from behind me and a newly-downed enemy in front of me. I needed a caster and Liana was more than happy to fill the position. Oh, she's not the best caster in the clan, not by a long shot. But she's the only one I trust to have my back no matter what the circumstance is. She could be the worst for all I care and I'd still choose her.
Liana was one of the first dragons to really teach me what family and togetherness felt like, and there's no replicating those kind of bonds and experiences. Without her there might not have been a clan today to speak of.
