Faeryn At The Cape

Faeryn Out Exploring

A whimsical and demure dragon, prone to getting her wires so crossed she almost cannot speak. Perhaps it was her lonesome upbringing, or her just not being able to find the words, but she tends to get the message across regardless. Most of the dragons who flocked to the cape seemed to take to her quite quickly regardless, much to her surprise. She doesn't know how to handle all the newfound attention and relies heavily on the close friends she's gathered to help bail her out when she inevitably gets overwhelmed. Coincidentally her fur and wings started very differently as well, some bright color she cannot remember, but slowly began to shimmer and fade to the dusky blues and cool iridescent white she is now.

With the warm temperatures of the cove, her winter coat stopped growing as well, and she began donning a cowl and gloves when she ventured into the glaciers for the clan. She doesn’t get to leave very often, but being one of the few tundras around paired with her familiarity makes her the best choice, so she cherishes the gathering time alone when she can get it. The quiet stillness is calming to her. Though anything too far she usually gets sent with a guard.

She doesn’t know exactly how she is connected to the Cape, but she feels the connection strongly, believing all her time wandering in her youth was her slowly being drawn here. It would also explain her wild transformation. Perhaps even for how the dragons treat her, as it would explain how such a timid creature as herself ended up in such a substantial leadership role. Or even with Hissad. She knows her bond with him may seem especially unconventional, but she knows he will protect her with everything he has. She’s unsure if their meeting was true happenstance, or if this place has influence way beyond its presumed reaches, but she’s overjoyed he’s here regardless.

Relationships
Faeryn gets along well with most of the cape, regarded neutrally by all others, almost too soft and reserved to leave too big an ill impression. These are among her important bonds.

12375818p.pngHissad: Faeryn was quite surprised their meeting turned out like it did. Not having met many guardians before, she had no idea of their concept of a charge, so when this intimidating dragon she was sure would end her instead kneeled before her she was quite flabbergasted. Under the initial impression that he was vowing to protect ‘her’ cape and not her directly, as she was the only other dragon there, she soon came to realize that he was just as much devoted to her safety as well. Soon their bond grew even stronger, and Hissad’s tiny ward became his tiny amour. In the back of her mind, Faeryn worries just how much influence the Cape has on his feelings, but she trusts that their link is more than that.

13972977p.pngMeirwen: Meirwen was posted as the main guard for the lower half of the Cape. The Hamlet has a great view of incoming threats but isn’t so privy to what goes on below them, so Meirwen solves that problem. Meirwen almost acts as a shadow to Faeryn, accompanying her on her further gathering treks and keeping constant post nearby while she's home. This is of course a bit overwhelming at times, but it seems Hissad took that into account when choosing Meirwen. Aside from being one of his most trusted and fearsome fighters, Meirwen very much is an aloof jokester, and for the most part sticks to the sidelines save for a quip or two. As Faeryn can get flustered rather easily with all the responsibilities of leading the clan and being someone who cherishes her quiet time, a pleasant and silent co-existence with Meirwen is perfect.

12367795p.pngMaeve: As a proper socialite, Maeve is instrumental in helping Faeryn manage things at the Cape. True to her species' reputation and diplomatic in all senses, Maeve acts almost like a secondhand. Town halls and group meetings can quickly get out of hand once tensions arise, and without Maeve, Faeryn would simply lose control of them. Before Maeve arrived, Hissad did his best to bully the room into submission, but nothing quite compares to the gentle yet scathing remarks from Maeve, quickly commanding a room. Most almost feel guilty if they don’t comply. Together they make a great team, especially when Maeve attempts to ground Faeryn during bouts of her 'woo-woo whimsy nonsense', as Maeve puts it.

14236659p.pngChalcedony: Despite coming and going frequently as clan courier, Chalcedony is so quick that Faeryn almost doesn’t have time to forget his face. She looks forward to his return each time, looking to hear tales of who and what he has seen and where. Being mostly confined to the Cape, she treasures the time Chalcedony takes to entertain her with his stories.

Familiar
Murktooth Bramblekeep
One day Stygian simply stumbled up the river in the cave of the Falls, straight towards Faeryn. Slowly bumbling up to her, he just looked her in the eyes, lowered his head in what seemed to be a show of respect, and then just ambled about his business. The stoic (and unsettling) bear has been a staple since, mostly just wandering about the Cape. The eerily silent creature makes most uncomfortable, especially since even Faeryn doesn’t know why he is here or what he wants. But she says she ‘senses he is safe and genuine,’ so they just reluctantly let him be.
